Fin garden as it appeared in the days of the Safavi empire. Due
to the pristine underground water sources that continue to feed
this oasis till this very day, Kashan has long been favored by
many Persian monarchs from various dynasties. Hence, although other
cities such as Isfahan gained the favor of many a royalty as their
capital, some monarchs would spend considerable leisure time in
Kashan. The Safavid Shah Abbas I is particularly known to be buried
there, and 17th century British explorer Thomas Herbert, considered
Kashan the second most beautiful of Iranian cities.
