* Somewhat opposite

Regardless of whether Marx's theory is sound or not, I believe that Mr. Tabib is missing the point here ["Poor Marx"]. In my opinion, Mohandes' "Bonapartism" article neither approves nor criticizes the Marx theory. It is not even trying to give an accurate depiction of the Marxism ideology.

Mohandes simply explains the conditions and social outcomes of a phenomenon that many have been warning about. Aside from the questions of the class struggles, proletariat, bourgeoisie, and social casts, the gist of the Mohandes' article is that in respect to the threat of Bonapartism, the recent history of Iran could not have been more troubled than what has already been happened.

Mr. Tabib says that "the Marxian Bonapartism has almost nothing to do with the concept of a "grand savior" as Mohandes put it. It is actually somewhat opposite." I refer Mr. Tabib to "The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte" (Progress Publishers, Moscow, 1937), where Marx said: "Bourgeois fanatics for order are shot down on their balconies by mobs of drunken soldiers, their domestic sanctuaries profaned, their houses bombarded for amusement -- in the name of property, of the family, of religion, and of order. Finally, the scum of bourgeois society forms the holy phalanx of order and the hero Crapulinski installs himself in the Tuileries as the 'savior of society'."

* Sexless Nooneh

I am DYING to know who or what made Nooneh decide to take out the sex in her stories. The last few stories have, thankfully, been void of the usual sexual content. Well shit, Nooneh, no one's gonna read them now.

I'm guessing that the backlash against her and her stories as well as the harrassment she must have received made her realize that in fact yes, being perceived as a whore in the eyes of other Iranians IS bad, it IS degrading, it IS humiliating. I suppose we haven't seen the last of her, but it is clear now that her little "experiment" turned around and hit her in the face.

You're nothing special, Nooneh. Your writing is neither thought-provoking nor is it refreshing. You're like the Iranian Angelina Jolie -- you're emotionally unstable and mentally unbalanced. You're constantly starving for attention like a teenage girl, and you figure the best way to get it is by publically exuding your sexuality at every turn.

Yeah, tell the whole world about your sex life, create some controversy, and boom, there you have it, you're the center of attention. It's too bad you didn't write about your sexual conquests with any Bobs or Michaels, because honey let me tell you something, no Iranian man will ever ever ever marry you.

* In any shape or form

Dear Mr Mohammadi, ["Easy to make grand speedches"]

Firstly, I am sorry but you seem to miss the point. There are those of us who do not want to "deal with it" as you put it because we do not beleieve that the system of an Islamic Republic is right for our country in any shape or form, and therefore stand against it at every level and as Mr Khatami is a great believer in this system and Velayat Faghih, stand against him as well. No amount of reform or moderation through Khatami or anyone from within this regime is ever going to deliver a truly democratic country.

Secondly I flatly refuse to accept that someone like Mr Khatami, with his record in this regime since 1980, can ever lead the people of Iran to democrcay. Is he going to seperate religion from politics ? As someone who believes in secularism, why should I put up with this and "deal with it" as you put it?

Thirdly, how do you know whether I go to Iran or not ? And regardless of that, do we Iranians who live outside Iran have to shut up and put up because people , in desperation, voted for Khatami ? I don't think so sir.
