* Few undesirables

I read this article because some of his concerns are mine as well. However, one can not judge all the people sharing knowledge in the same light. I do not have Iranian TV because a few times I have watched at my friend's house, I have been horrified at the site of overly made up, atrociously bleached blonde hair women with phony smiles talking garbage.

But in the field of medicine I have my best friend who is the only Iranian (woman if it matters) practicing ancient Iranian medicine and in particular Avicenna's (Ibn Sina one of Iran's treasures). She has her own show and I watched her re-runs at her office on TV to give her my opinion (as her best friend). I have objected to her dressing too conservatively and not smiling enough but I have not heard her say anything out of line and deceiving.

I have been treated by her on many occasions using her herbs and a few of my American friends are her regular patients and visit her every week.

She does ask people to fax her their files so she can diagnose and believe it or not she can even diagnose over the phone. I have had several occasions which I spent money going to top doctors in my area only to call her and be told what was my problem. Using the herbs and the regiment defiantly helped. Now, she is not a magician and I happen to be very educated and well read in traditional Persian medicine and used them years before I met her.

I agree that some people assume she is the cure to their ills and they really do not follow her instruction and expect miracles. She does not claim to have cure for cancer but she has a chef who cooks for her cancer patients and she prescribes a healthy life style. Many well known American doctors like Perricone, Null advise food therapy as cure for many ills. The body has the ability to cure itself if it is done the right way. We have Iranians who sit and eat a big box of Iranian pastry shooting their blood sugar and expect taking an herbal pill should be sufficient.

One day I was at her office for only a few minutes and looked at her message pads . She had 500 messages!! You are right many people call from Iran and Europe but in her case she has many calling from within US and most are educated. I have met some of her American patients (at her parties) and there are many medical professionals including doctors among them). There are Iranians who like to help others and show the glorious and advance knowledge of Iran in many fields dating back centuries.

God has given us the brain to use and recognize that many things are common sense. We would do our own research and by all means ask questions and demand credentials but by no means we should assume all these Iranians sharing knowledge with other fellow Iranians are simply out "to get them".

My girlfriend is so dedicated to promoting the Traditional Iranian medicine she spends most of her time taking care of patients and I have yelled at her a few times because she can not say "it is 3:00 a.m. damn it, don't you have any sense?" or "I am tire, I have been working for 14 hours". She has no time for anything else because all she thinks about is making a difference whether it is by prescribing Persian herbs or simply by talking to people.

By the way, I do not know about the other doctors but she makes sure to check with her lawyer on what she can say and not to say and adheres to the ethical code of conducting business and giving medical advise. A few undesirable people taking advantage of our fellow Iranians do not represent the whole "medical segment".
