Photo essay: Staging the life of a female poet

Chista Yasrebi's play is based on
the story of Rabieh in Attar Neishabouri's 13th century Elahinameh.
Historical indications are that she was the daughter of the ruler
of Balkh around the 7th century. She is known as the first Iranian
female poet, mystic, painter and politician. The play is being
staged at Vahdat Hall in Tehran by Hossein Saharkhiz's Khorshid
theater group. The role of Rabieh is played by Marjaneh Golchin.
