Now littered with minefields and gun emplacements, it is a staging area for military exercises. Pictures of the earth beamed back by satellite are an important tool for the military, but the Library of Congress says they can also be art. Images from Landsat7 are on show in an exhibit called 'Earth as Art,' at the Geography and Map Division until July 23, 2003.
