The village of Chak Chak, sacred to Zoroastrians, lies on the edge
of the desert central Iran near the city of Yazd 400 kilometers
(249 miles) southeast of Tehran, and is seen in this photograph
taken on June 9, 2004. Zoroastrians say the sacred spring at
Chak Chak, a shrine perched beneath a towering cliff face in
the pitiless desert of central Iran, has lost none of its miraculous
healing powers. REUTERS/Raheb Homavandi
