Iranian culture and the inherent sense of Iranian nationalism were
in display in Michigan during Charshanbeh Soori celebration
Tuesday night (3/16/04). The cold weather and falling snow could
not
dampen the spirit of more than 200 kids, and the kids-at-heart,
gathered in a park organized by the Independent Pars School of
Ann Arbor (Mrs.
Abani, Principle).
Supervised and directed
by Dr. Farhad Blourchi (Master of Ceremony) and Mrs.Shadi Blourchi,
the program included jumping over bonfires, singing, fireworks,
"Ghaashogh-Zani" (similar to trick or treat), and much more. Iranian
noodle soup (Aashe Reshteh) as well as Aashe Shirazi, and Aashe
Mashadi,
along
with
Ajeel
and Shirini were served -- all under falling snow and on snow-covered
ground. Here are some pictures to demonstrate
the
spirit of Iranians in Michigan. Armand Ash-Rafzadeh
