In the 2nd Friday of the Iranian month of Mehr, people in
the small town of Mashad-e
Ardahal near Kashan hold an incredible traditional
religious ceremony that has come down through history. People
attend from towns and villages near and far, many of them by
foot.
The ceremony commemorates
the death of one of the Prophet Mohammad's ancestors who died in
this area. People take carpets -- a
symbol of his body -- from the Imam-Zadeh
shrine and wash them in the river. .Next>>> Photos by Javad Montazeri
