Iran's policy toward the taliban was based on predictions made by Iran's special representative for Afghan affairs, Alaeddin Brooujerdi. Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi to his deputy Sadeq Kharrazi as they listen to Boroujerdi's predictions: "Don't you think it would have been better if we had not based our actions on his predictions?"
