Three Day Conference on 4th-6th September 2000 to be held at Clifton
Hill House, University of Bristol, Bristol, UK. This conference is convened
by the British Institute of Persian Studies, in conjunction with the Iran
Heritage Foundation. It forms the culmination of the Religion and Society
in Qajar Iran project, which has been operating since 1996, providing grants
for scholars researching religion during the Qajar period. It also follows

* Dastan Ensemble in Seattle
The Dastan Ensemble will have its Persian classical music concert on
Monday, February 21, 2000 at 7:30 PM at the Ethnic Cultural Center of University
of Washington. The Ethnic Cultural Center is located at 3981 Brooklyn Avenue

Gallery Ovissi, California, and Evolving Perceptions, Washington DC,
have been provided with a wonderful opportunity to bring to the United
States an incredible collection of contemporary art from Aria Gallery in
Tehran. Gallery Ovissi is working hard to have this collection of over
60 works travel to Washington DC, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Gallery
Ovissi is interested to seek space in the Washington DC area to host this
collection for the last week of March 2000 or for the first week of April

* Sara Amir for California State Assembly
California State Senator Tom Hayden (D-23rd District, Los Angeles),
who is forced out of the State Senate by term limits, has decided at the
last minute to NOT run in the 42nd State Assembly District. As a result
of Hayden dropping out of the race, former (1998) Green candidate for Lt.
Governor Sara Amir has decided to enter the race on the last day. To support

1998, Amir received 3.1% for Lt. Governor, the highest percentage any third
