February 27, 2000 -- D.N. Rahni was the recipient of the first prize, 13th Algorithm (Al-Khawrazmi) Scientific International Award. The Award, bestowed by the Iranian President Mohammad Khatami and Galileo Violini the Regional Director of UNESCO, is named after the 8th century Persian Mathematician, Philosopher and Historian, and is co-sponsored by the UNDP, UNESCO, and the Third World Academy of Sciences among others (www.irost.com select "Award" then, "International"). Gallery Ovissi, California, and Evolving Perceptions, Washington DC, have been provided with a wonderful opportunity to bring to the United States an incredible collection of contemporary art from Aria Gallery in Tehran. Gallery Ovissi is working hard to have this collection of over 60 works travel to Washington DC, Los Angeles and San Francisco. California State Senator Tom Hayden (D-23rd District, Los Angeles), who is forced out of the State Senate by term limits, has decided at the last minute to NOT run in the 42nd State Assembly District. As a result of Hayden dropping out of the race, former (1998) Green candidate for Lt. Governor Sara Amir has decided to enter the race on the last day.
