why
by chalousroad on Tue Apr 07, 2009 05:34 PM PDTYou guys know that any kind of comedy exists anywhere in the world, and in my opinion the purpose of it is to make you laugh, nobody defines what comedy is, different people laugh at different jokes, there is no universal comedy my friend. You can't label Iranian people stupid if they don't laugh at some silly cheap american or english joke.No need to mention examples as loads of this kind of comedy exists in the western world like Russell Peters, etc. Lets not get to concious about these and define the rightful way and critisize us iranians too much. Just take it easy and enjoy life man.
well
by Sarzamine Man (not verified) on Tue Apr 07, 2009 05:47 AM PDTIn this subject I can say I also agree with Abarmard, even if we put nationality, racism aside, this is not call comedy, comedy has its standard and this is just making fun of people with different background.
Jokes are Jokes.
by KouroshS (not verified) on Mon Apr 06, 2009 11:24 PM PDTAbarmard.
You have more than Confirmed your opinion in the wrongness of such jokes and banterings.
It should be obvious for anyone that making fun of religious beliefs do not classify as jokes and they are just simply rediculous and shallow statements or remarks. The same goes for the political beliefs and strange behaviors.
Perhaps you should pay some close attention when such ethnically-inclined jokes are told in gatherings which are always preceded by making it so clear that there are no disrespect intended, and are in no way meant to insult a particular group, and Please lighten up! they are called jokes, which means they don't come with pre-conditions as having to acknowledge the smarts and intelligence of those who the jokes are targetting!
You are not supposed to analyze jokes.
To Abarmard
by Anonymous-Pedram (not verified) on Mon Apr 06, 2009 02:27 PM PDTSince when have we nationalities in Iran? We are one nation, don't forget that man. What was racist in this video clip? You sound like pan-turks when you speaks about nationalities in Iran!
"That would have been OK if we all regarded those nationalities with pride, also telling them that they are amazing people to be able to speak at least two languages", Abarmard I speak PERSIAN, English, German and somewhat Spanish and I don't understand why people should be amazed by the fact that someone speaks different languages. What is so special about speaking different languages? For me and many others, amazing people are those who do something for humanity, those who add values and norms to their society, those who fight for freedom, those who see the pain and suffer of others as their own pain etc. Do we Iranians care about each other?
PS: I remember one of your jokes about Lury people. Don't you want to start working on your own "as you called it racist behaviour"(I don't consider telling jokes as something racist and I was not offended by your Lury joke because it was just a joke like all other jokes)
Low level comedy
by Abarmard on Mon Apr 06, 2009 11:37 AM PDTI can't wait for the day that our comedy has passed the same old, repetitive, and at times racist style and moved beyond that, where we make fun of dumb social behaviors, religious beliefs or political stupidity.
As long as I remember, our so called jokes has been accents of other nationalities in Iran. That would have been OK if we all regarded those nationalities with pride, also telling them that they are amazing people to be able to speak at least two languages.
Anyways, I don't mean to say what's right or wrong, but personally I don't approve of this kind of so called jokes. Also I have heard it for so long that it's just not funny anymore. New materials please.
