Vali Nasr

Senior foreign policy adviser to Obama Administration

NIAC -- The National Iranian American Council welcomes Iranian-American Professor Vali Nasr’s appointment as senior advisor to special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, which he has confirmed to Foreign Policy magazine, and we congratulate Dr. Nasr on his upcoming role in the Obama administration. Throughout his campaign, election and transition, President Obama made clear his intention to bring change to the way government operates; for those who long to see greater Iranian-American participation at the highest levels of our government, the news of Dr. Nasr’s appointment is truly change we can believe in>>>

Nasr has no association with NIAC!

by no_name (not verified) on

Please correct me if I am wrong. But I believe NIAC has no relationship with Dr. Nasr. It seems like they are just trying to get credit for it, as they always try to get credit for others' work.

This post by NIAC does nothing but to undermine Mr. Nasr! It only taints him as it associates him with a group that is under numerous accusations.

I've never seen any interview of Parsi or any mention of Nasr in NIAC's membership or see him listed as an advisers on their site.

Mr. Nasr has no agenda, and watching all his interviews, it's clear he is by far the most knowledgeable person about the region on Obama's team.

However, he has no diplomatic experience, so hopefully, this will give him the hands on experience needed for him to later take on higher position, i.e. deputy secretary of state or special envoy to the region.

All these kind and classy Iranians

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

Ahhhhhh isn't it beautiful. We  are not crazy at all.

I wrote this in A's blog, but I'll re-write it here. Nasr is a GREAT pick. He can advise and warn President Obama about IRI behavior better than anyone. He is in touch with reality rather than "let's bomb them. starve them. draw up war games and get in! strangle those mullahs woohoo!"

Hillary better listen up!

Also, Nasr is one fine lookin man. Jesus Christ! Have you seen these other fat, bald (not that there's anything really wrong with that), frowning advisers? Bush had a bunch of kabob over eating fake scholars, Obama goes for the gold. Awesome! Makes me proud.

This is indeed a victory for all Iranians across the globe. Mr. Nasr's voice and his distinguished thought process to convey logic and common sense is admirable. Alwyas loved watching him talk.

I would equate Dr. Nasr's appointment as special foreign policy advisor in Barack Obama's administration as an insult to all Iranians. Specifically, those who endured 37 years of tyrrany, respression, injustice, genocide, and corruption under the despotic Pahlavi rule. Perhaps a good piece of advise Dr. Nasr could give Barack is KEEP YOUR DIRTY LITTLE FINGERS OFF OF IRAN!!!!

Iranians who collaborate with US government

by AnonymousFolani (not verified) on

Iranians of both right-wing and "liberal" stripes who collaborate with the Number One enemy of the Iranian people (and all humanity), i.e. the lousy and warmongering US government, rightly deserve to be called traitors and treated as such.
