i'm not a madonna fan but...
by hamsade ghadimi on Fri Jul 24, 2009 07:15 AM PDTshe's giving exposure to the iranian cause. perhaps it's marginal, but still... do we want more people to pay attention to the plight of the iranian people? if you answer 'yes' to this question, then you might want to ask does madonna's ploy induces positive attention (people who normally don't care, start caring), negative attention (people who hate madonna, hate the iranian cause) or no difference? i think her actions have marginal positive attention and thank her for it. i may feel a bit icky watching her, but i'm not her audience! marjan, save your fury for the mollahs and those iranians who don't give a rat's ass.
Shahab, thank you for a post I can respond to and learn from
by Marjan Zahed Kindersley on Fri Jul 24, 2009 05:03 AM PDT(Ignoring the very few ad hominem noises; somehow I have a feeling that you are simply using figures of speech and they just slip in?) I do take your points about exposure and awareness, which were well-explained. Sad but points taken.
The nature of the effect and efficacy of such exposure might be for further discussion.
As for irannostalgia's 'comments'; I've already addressed them in other posts for all to see. No more replies from me to this poster.

by shahabshahab on Thu Jul 23, 2009 07:45 PM PDTOkay. I (and I believe some others on this page) to some degree do see your point. However, let's get off the high horse and allow the "lowly" and "cheap" Madonna to help our cause. People who live in glass houses do not throw stones. We as Iranians need all the help we can get. The fact that Madonna or anyone else simply publicizes our plight should be welcomed, not condemned. Of course, I am not naive to think there is no ulterior motive. But I am not paranoid and belive as far as Madonna is concerned, she means to help. This is one very effective way to spread the word of the ever-present injustices in Iran. That is good enough for me.
Thank you Modonna
by David ET on Thu Jul 23, 2009 06:43 PM PDTGet stupid is a very political song which madonna has been taking to everywhere Madonna she has toured and millions of fans and youth.
Here are its lyrics and it was very responsible of her to add Iranian strugle to the historical clips that she already had in it. This was already discussed on Iranian.com once: //iranian.com/main/2009/jul/madonna-where-my-vote
GET STUPID :
Who is the master and who is the slave? (Robotic Voice)
Tic Tac, Tic Tac (x4)
Get Stupid... (Get Stupid) (x4)
Get Stupid... Don't Stop it... (Get Stupid)
Get up...
It's time...
Your life...
Your world...
Get up...
It's time...
Your life...
Your choice...
It's time for you to read the signs
Your world...
Your choice...
You don't have the luxury of time
Tic Tac, Tic Tac (...repeat)
Get Stupid... (Get Stupid) (x4)
Get Stupid... Don't Stop it... (Get Stupid)
Get up...
It's time...
Your life...
Your world...
Get up...
It's time...
Your life...
Your choice...
You have got to say what's on your mind
the time is now...
if you wait too long it'll be too late
let's go... (x4)
the time is right now
you got to decide
say what you like
there ain't no time to loose (x2)
the time is right now (...it's time)
you got to decide (...get up)
say what you like (...the time)
there ain't no time to loose (...is now) (x2)
Sooo funny.
by irannostalgia.com on Thu Jul 23, 2009 06:09 PM PDTThis Marjan puts a woman's bra on a flower pot and take a picture of it, and then comes here complaining about Madonna???
Madonna is doing something at her level. Her sort of audience, rightfully shouldnt be caring about our messed up middle eastern countries. They are a mess because its our own fault. Yet thanks to Madonna they will at least notice these issues for 5 minutes.
My wish is that iranians be more alarmed about whats going on in Iran and less about others particulary the western countries they have emigrated to.
Like there was this article recently about these muslims in Malmo Sweden having the nerves to pass a petition to forbid Swedish women from Swimming topless.

by Marjan Zahed Kindersley on Thu Jul 23, 2009 04:18 PM PDTAnother one. Can you not stick to the topic at hand?
Do you have to resort to ad homimem attacks?
My work is not the issue here. When and if you have an opinion about my work, then please do so on the appropriate page.
Can we please get back to the topic at hand?
What the devil do my photographs have to do with this Madonna video?

by Marjan Zahed Kindersley on Thu Jul 23, 2009 03:27 PM PDTPlease, both of you, learn to think and stop assuming, especially on the internet. I'm just about as islamic as a rampant rabbit gorging on a MarsBar.
Please, learn to ask about a person's opinion and reasoning before spewing total nonsense and learn to stick to the topic and please oh please some elementary logic, e.g. my objection to this video has zilch to do with my opinions about stoning in Iran.
Also please learn the meaning of words. "Infuriating" does not mean that I am in a state of fury.
My MAIN objection is Madonna being the epitamy of cheap, opportunist mediocre dumbing down of "Homo Consumens" and as such especially infuriating in such a serious situation as is in Iran at the moment.
The offence lies in being subjected and forced to consume the tragedy of others in such a crass and trashy way.
If you are going to reply and wish a reply from me, please do NOT waste my time with your arrogance of ludicrous assumptions.
I enjoy a debate, but only one I can learn from (I'm not as clever as you two and need a lot of time to learn )and so far the evidence of both your posts is very much lacking in anything worth my time.
Mea Culpa in not having elaborated in my initial post, but your responses are ridiculous.
she's so sexy
by Little Tweet on Thu Jul 23, 2009 03:17 PM PDTMadonna's sexy even when she sings about human rights and peace.
Well Said Shahab!
by irannostalgia.com on Thu Jul 23, 2009 12:23 PM PDTIts so annoying that we have stoning of women in Iran, hangings of innocent people that are killed for reasons other than announced and thousands of other crimes, yet these cowards like "Marjan Zahed" get enfuriated over some silly thing like Madonna.
Marjan, you should redirect your furry at murderous mollahs, not some singer.
And I'm not a fan of that singer, I guaranty that! Cant stand her voice. But this is her innocent way of being supportive of iranians and that is a nice gesture.
