hypocracy
by Anonymous69 (not verified) on Mon Jun 08, 2009 08:38 AM PDTto the misguided fool who argues that the islamic theocracy of Iran has lasted longer than any Pahlavi king because of its great "internal national popular support." if your logic holds true, then 70 years of communist rule in Russia which lasted longer than any Russian Czar and sent millions of its own citizens to the Siberian gulags, was sustained due to its widespread national support??
i bet you don't even live in Iran do you? why do you support a regime you're not even willing to live in?? what's good for the goose is obviously not good for the gander. if you deem it so popular, why don't you move to Iran you hypocrite.
Mr. Kadivar
by Mashty (not verified) on Mon Jun 08, 2009 07:50 AM PDTPlease answer me honestly. How can someone who doesn't even speak the language properly can tell all the Iranians that he/she is wrong? Just think about it.
When were you in Iran last that you are so opinionated?
What are chances for you to not know Iran as a whole, but nit pick the problems that are too common among developing nations?
Please answer, or think about this without getting in the attack mode.
Iranian government is great and moving
by Mashty (not verified) on Mon Jun 08, 2009 07:46 AM PDTThe entire society of Iran is wrong but some of the Iranian Americans who don't have a clue about Iran and are Iranians because once they were born there are right!
Those so called Western minded Iranians don't understand the simplest procedures that the Western nations took in order to arrive to democracy. They are just show. That's why you rarely see an intelligent person who is well read agree with them.
I don't understand why (those) people don't get it that the government of no nation will just change just because. We need to participate.
Why no one realizes that we are not going to have democracy in the next 5-10 years, but an on going drive to gain what we deserve. Not what one deserves, what we as a nation deserve.
We will not have democracy the way some want a government to come and give them beer and let girls dress however.
We will have our own made government that will evolve to satisfy what our own people decide what values are dear, not the west nor the (those) Iranian Americans. Get that to your head for once, then you'll understand.
The Islamic Republic is changing. Are you on denial?
Join the Iranian nation and become part of the movement forward. We, only we will decide.
(It's like those who live in Iran and when asked, they say, what's the difference who will be the president of the US. Because they live far and little things don't matter to them. The (Those) Iranian Americans have the exact same symptoms, Of course only very small population of them. Most Iranian Americans have accepted the Islamic Republic and are willing to work within the framework of the law of the land. In the long run, all those laws will change that is not pro Iranian nation as a whole. Because we own the land now, not the West)
Salute to the Islamic Republic of Iran and those who understand Iran.

Vote for the Best of Times
by Davood_Banayan on Sun Jun 07, 2009 08:26 PM PDTAmericans for a Democratic Republic in Iran.
I and all my friends and family will vote in the Iranian elections throughout Europe and the United States. If an Iranian has an Iranian Identity booklet, "Shenaas Nameh", they must vote. Otherwise, their name shall not be recorded in the book of life.
All these losers who want regime change are just plain stupid. The theocracy has ruled Iran continuously longer than either king during the Pahlavi dynasty.
We will go back as far as a little over 100 years. Thus we must include some information on the Qajar dynasty.
Let us look at history:
Muzaffar al-Din Shah (1896-1906)-10 years [forced to accept Iranian constitution]
Mohammad Ali Shah (1907-1909)-2 years [ran away to Russia]
Ahmad Shah (1910-1925)-15 years [exiled to Europe]
Reza Khan (1925-1941)-16 years [exiled to Africa]
Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (1941-1953)-12 years [exiled to Rome]
Mohammad Mossadegh (1953) [removed by CIA/MI6; put on trial by Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, put in prison, afterwards, put under house arrest until his death in AhmadAbad, Tehran in 1967].
Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (1953-1979)-26 years [exiled to Egypt]
Theocracy (1979-2009/Present-Over 30 years and counting
The Iranian theocracy has been the longest lasting continuous Iranian government in over 100 years. No other Iranian government has had such internal national popular support.

reaction to your comments...
by Sabz (not verified) on Sun Jun 07, 2009 09:10 AM PDTDon’t you guys forget that this add is made in Iran and initially for the people who are experiencing life in that restricted society. Comparing to the third world standards of that country, I think the add is pretty good and it reaches out to its target audience (those who live in cities and rural areas and watch programs, films and TV serials made by these filmmakers and actors).
And in response to “honarpisheh”, members of the cultural society in Iran are generally more intellectual than their counterparts in the US (especially Hollywood folks) therefore when they speak of freedom of speech, freedom of work and equality they are not referring merely to their own position. We cannot judge a country and its development from outside. There are so many details that we don’t get, just because we are not living there!
Let’s be optimistic and hope for the best, for our people inside Iran.

annoying ad
by Anonymoses on Sun Jun 07, 2009 06:47 AM PDTJust from an aesthetic perspective... the ad is way toooo long and toooo repetitive, and frankly very annoying.
It brings nothing to the table at all. They could be talking about anyone, there is nothing distinguished.
Darius Kadivar: More importantly, where is Ashraf Pahlavi?
by Anonymous in the USA (not verified) on Sun Jun 07, 2009 06:16 AM PDTAn even BIGGER absent (you meant absence, didn't you?) The endorsement of members of the Pahlavi dynasty is always key, n'est-ce pas?
Cry for change
by Farid Parsa (not verified) on Sun Jun 07, 2009 05:05 AM PDTIt's good to see that people realize that politicians with mandate from people can bring change. This cry for change seems to me to be an informed one. However, in a country such as Iran where power is exclusive to certain groups, real democracy has no place because there is so much at stake. People rights to choose has been ignored for the past twenty odd years and if this bulling continues people have no choice but to enter into certain course of action in order to be able to take part in their own destiny and help the future generation to learn how to stand on their own feet rather than resort to religious chauvinism and thuggery.

by Honarpishe (not verified) on Sun Jun 07, 2009 01:02 AM PDTAll of these so called artist are only thinking only about their own future and permission for their work.
Everybody thinks only about his own profit. Suppose present government would have give them full support for cultural matters, regardless of economic misery, all of them would support it.
They have no courage to say, give us permission for our job and we will support you, no matter who you are !
