by David ET on Tue Jul 13, 2010 02:48 AM PDTThe un-civil option would have been to interrupt the game one way or another ... running in to field..etc etc (with all the consequences) and deprive everyone of participating and watching despite all the restrictions and therefore creating a negative reaction and also face imprisonment . Or God forbid , like in Parkistan etc send a suicide bomber and kill innocent people
So as you see CIVIL disobedience has its meaning is the best approach and that is why it is called CIVIL. Practicing what we preach
Right- more of the same fascist hypocrisy
by Fair on Tue Jul 13, 2010 12:16 AM PDTsitting in America and saying who deserves to be in Iran and who doesn't. Khak to sare kharet konan, Iran is for all Iranians, not hypocrite fascist traitors like you. "Regionally adapted uniform" my A**. Regionally adapted for what? The COLD TEMPERATURES of the middle east so they don't freeze?
Or the stupid brains of fascists like you and your fascist bosses who can't handle seeing women play sport freely like in most of the world?
Weakness? The biggest weakness is yourself and your failed attempts to convince anybody of anything, other than your ability to make a complete fool of yourself.

by Doctor X on Mon Jul 12, 2010 11:38 PM PDTVirulent... Malignant... Amazing vocabulary selection you've got there. F... the rest of the world, if they don't want to adapt to such sheer stupidity right? Part of the new Global or rather Gol and Bolbol order.
There are set rules and regulations for every competition in every venue in the world, that is respected and observed by ALL nations. Why do you have a hard time swallowing this? It is common sense.
We will come home soon and we will show YOU who deserves to be or not to be there. That WILL happen and will be more real than the noon o panir and cornflakes that you have for breakfast.
Just more of the same
by Sargord Pirouz on Mon Jul 12, 2010 10:49 PM PDTJust more of the same vitriol and reductions to the absurd. Completely predictable from this virulent crowd of malignant exiles.
Honestly, it's a competitive game played between two sets of eager competitors. The fact that they are women and wear a certain type of regionally adapted uniform is irrelevant. It's the game and spirit of competition that's important here.
Obviously, for these exiles their own personal sets of weaknesses takes priority over the pure joy of sport expressed in this film. It's good you people left Iran. You don't deserve to be there..
I have a hunch
by iroooni on Mon Jul 12, 2010 10:22 PM PDTThat these are muslim turkish German women that came to Tehran. I would love to see 11 Mullahs take on another 11 mullahs in a game of soccer. May be white turbans against black turbans.

by Doctor X on Mon Jul 12, 2010 10:03 PM PDTYeah. How about letting male wrestlers go on the mat all naked? No big deal, just a minor tweaking of their usual standard dress code.
Men wear a cap because it is a part of their uniform and it is the norm. You can't expect a similar level of performace on the filed and with soccer players where speed and agility is everything. Why don't you go and test your theory in the Sub-20 ladies world cup underway in germany and see what the rest of the world thinks?

Looks like a stupid restriction and another whitewash
by Fair on Mon Jul 12, 2010 08:13 PM PDTby the fascist (self proclaimed) major, once again trying to justify utter stupidity by the Iranian government.
Here are a bunch of women who want to do sport, and some a**hole mullah and their supporters here give themselves to push these women around and tell them to wrap this "minor" uniform alteration around their body. What a load of crap.
In the US, it is not the GOVERNMENT that says wear caps or not, it is the sport federation, which is a private professional organization which makes rules based on sport considerations. NOT religion or ideology.
Your pathetic shamelessness knows no limits once again. Boro daresho bezar badbakhte beechareh. Doost daree yeh lat-e- beesaropa be madar ya khahare to beeyad takleef roshan koneh? Khak bar sar-e-pook va zede Iraniat.

Where were we - where are we, and where are we going? Why is that most officials are torkish speaking?
Why all the ugly ones are playing? Are they running toget in shape so they get recruited by the police to arrest the pretty ones?

by benross on Mon Jul 12, 2010 05:34 PM PDTIt does sound nitpicking but it is important to avoid using terms such as 'civil disobedience', or 'non-violence' as clichés which I have a sense as being the way it is used in political discourse frequently and by everyone.
What you call 'civil disobedience' I call reacting, with a modern thinking and mentality, to the repression imposed on them.
Attention, it could get rough!
