(Reuters) – Israel's perspective on Iran's nuclear program differs from that of the United States, and the two may part ways on what action to take, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said on Friday. Washington's clout over its Middle East ally is under scrutiny after Israel's veiled threats to attack Iran preemptively if international diplomacy fails to rein in Tehran's uranium enrichment, a process with bomb-making potential. "There is of course a certain difference in perspective and a difference in judgment and a difference in the internal clock, a difference in capabilities," Barak told the Washington Institute for Near East Policy think-tank, when asked about Israeli-U.S. discussions about Iran. "I don't think that there is a need to coordinate in this regard. There should be understanding on the exchange of views, but we do not need to coordinate everything," said Barak, who was in Washington for strategic talks >>>

what if someone said: It
by gunjeshk on Tue Mar 02, 2010 01:42 PM PSTwhat if someone said:
It must suck to be IRANIAN. the government is completely oriented around conflict and war. Thank goodness the IRI exists. IRANIANS wouldn't have . .. . purpose.
I don't mean this hatefully. I think it is rather bloody wonderful to be Iranian. My point is that to wish away an entire nation filled with millions by claiming that they have no purpose is alarming. It does not "suck" to be Israeli. They are marvelous, driven people who intend to survive the latent tendencies of their neighbors, who (so far) seem to know very little about the kind of democracy Israel experiences, flawed as it is.
This is the only window Israel has.
by No Fear on Tue Mar 02, 2010 01:22 PM PSTTo all of those who believe one day Israel will attack Iran, I have to say that this is the best window of oppurtunity for them to carry out their attacks.
This is because Iran has moved ALL its enriched uraniums from underground and stored them temporarely in a complex above the ground. IAEA inspectors know about the new locations ( So does US and as a result, Israel ).
It is very unusual for Iran to move its stash above ground. Why provocating the enemy? ( any reasonable ideas? ) Some say this is due to some technical issues. ( any ideas? )
It seems Iran realizes the threat, hence meeting with the syrians and hizbollah leaders recently in lebanon.
Is this an invitation to attack?
If Israel refuses this time, ( Iran still doesn't have the s300 either ), they will never ever do so. This is it for them.
As a dog, you either bit or you either bark. Which one is it?
they just distributed gas masks in Israel. Sucks to be Israeli
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Tue Mar 02, 2010 01:07 PM PSTthey did this before the first gulf war as well.
It must suck to be Israeli. the government is completely oriented around conflict and war. Thank goodness the Arabs exist. Israel wouldn't have an economy or purpose.

choice between Israel and the Islamic Republic
by mahmoudg on Tue Mar 02, 2010 11:23 AM PSTI would choose Israel anyday over the medieval monks (oh sorry terrorists) ruling my country. Isreal will be the only country willing to help us get out of this quagmire. No Atrab would ever do so. in fact they have been the only race that has attempted to conquer us twice. Once during the reign of that leech Mohamad, and once during the reign of the other leech, Saddam. So Israel has every right, as a the only democracy in the region, to help us get our of this mess. Long Lve Israel, the US and a free Iran.
