Looks like US Navy style guide is based on the highest bidder.  When Shah was spending billions on the US arms it was Persian Gulf.  Now that Saudi and Gulf Shiekdoms are buying the arms it is Arabian gulf.

WHY ARE YOU SO SURPRISED?

The question is why are we complaining and yet we are getting screwed in Iran by arabs and stopping and destroying every thing that makes us persian, first and most important thing is for us clean up our home first and rest will be taken care of. we can not complain for what others do because we have no power and in order to get respected in world first we have to respect ourself first, if we don't respect one another or ourself we can not expect others to respect us and that is first rule of getting respected.

This is a travesty and I condemn the US Navy Guide but the blame for all of this falls squarely on the shoulders of Ahmadinejad. The reaction of the Americans is clearly in response to Ahmadinejad's provocative statements such as the 9/11 inside job conspiracy theory, casting doubt on the Holocaust and the ghastly Holocaust conference which took place in Tehran. The Persian Gulf is now being used as a political football and this is ilsulting to all Iranians. However, the sooner Iranians get rid of this terrorist regime the better.

The Gulf of Mexico borders more of the US coastline than Mexico, if I am not mistaken. And more Americans live on the coast bordering the Gulf. However the name is still Gulf of Mexico and I havent heard of any Americans opposed to it.

Let's be honest amongst ourself. A nation that names their sons and daughters arabic names, takes pride in celeberating heros and icons of  it's colonizers, has no sense of pride in it's own customs, culture and language and frankly it's more Arab than the rest of it's neighbours. (I dare you Show me one country in the whole region that has more emamzadeh than omatestan)Let's not forget that the people in charge were the ones that came out with the name "islamic gulf" as early a s1979.
