Obviously not all books were destroyed.   On the other hand, I was under the impression that Iranians learned about pre-Sassanian history mostly from the Greek sources, so your guess is as good as mine when we talk about isolated events that happened 1400 years ago.  And, we have to rely on these sporatic passages that let us glimpse into the past.

This is pretty vague and general.  Which libraries were specifically burned?  I can't find any information on this.  Abdul Rahman ben Khaldoon wrote about this over 600 years after the arab invasion.  There are many known library and book burnings throughout history, like the mongol destruction of the house of wisdom or the kurdish book burnings. But nothing on persian libraries being burned.

library containing all the knowledge of the world" the conquering

The biggest mistake

I think the biggest mistake Western countries made (but fear to publicly announce) was to equate Islam with bunch of unholy terrorists and extremists who ONLY use Islam to further their agenda.

This made those extremist popular and the masses gather around them.

I bet burning quran is exactly what these extremists in middle east wants to see. It will further strengthen their foothold and marginalize the true Islam and majority of peaceful Muslims.

So, it takes two to tango. The extremist on this side of the water want to eradicate Islam as a dielectical challenge to Western values. On the other hand, the extremist in middle east want to stir things up to fish in muddy waters. In the middle is caught in this quagmirrearethe muslims and Islam.

It is hard to change Islam because the genuine qoran is not touchable as it was the case few thousand years ago with Old and ne testaments.

So, here we are after ~400years with a moder crusade. This war can not be won by fire power as it was the case 400 years ago.

It makes me wonder,  in the name and for the sake of our national interest It would be so easy for the government to order a sanction and ban on such acts and if necessary dispatch the law enforcement agencies such as the local police or the national guard to intervene and prevent such acts of hate that with no doubt would be against our American and global national and international interests and will only create the ground for retaliation on behalf  of fanatic Islamic groups and those simple minds that will buy into it!

The library in alexendria was never destroyed by the arabs.  This story was actually a hoax.  As a matter of fact, during the islamic renaissance many ancient manuscripts were translated.  Which libraries in Iran were burned?
