AP — Iran's defense minister on Tuesday shrugged off a U.S. request for the return of an American spy drone captured by Iranian armed forces and instead demanded an apology from Washington. Tehran last week identified the drone as the RQ-170 Sentinel and said it was captured over the country's east. The nearly intact drone was displayed on state TV and flaunted as a victory for Iran in a complicated intelligence and technological battle with the U.S. "Their plane invaded Iran and Iranian forces reacted powerfully," said Defense Minister Gen. Ahmad Vahidi "Now, instead of offering an apology to the Iranian nation, they impudently ask for the return of the plane." >>>

Karzai: Leave us out of your Iran mess
by Esfand Aashena on Wed Dec 14, 2011 11:18 AM PSTKarzai: Leave us out of your Iran mess
Panetta, while refusing to discuss the drone mission, suggested that missions into Iran were necessary and will continue.
He only discussed the drone that crashed inside Iran and did not discuss the drone that crashed in Afghanistan and was later put on an 18 wheeler and transported to Iran!

by MeyBokhor_Manbarbesuzan on Wed Dec 14, 2011 12:39 AM PSTBaby Come Back
Spending all my nights and all my money going out on the town
Doing anything just to get you off of my mind
But when the morning comes I'm right back where I started again
And trying to forget you was just a waste of time
Baby come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong and I just can't live without you
All day long wearing a mask of false bravado
Trying to keep up a smile and hide the tears
But as the sun goes down I get that empty feeling again
How I wish to god that you were here
Baby come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong and I just can't live without you
Now that I put it all together
Give me the chance to make you see
Have you used up all the love in your heart
Nothing left for me, is there nothing left for me
Baby come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, listen baby, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong and I just can't live without you
Re Obama
by Arj on Tue Dec 13, 2011 06:31 PM PSTDear masoudA, do you mean that he's appointed by some secret society (e.g. Bilderberg)?! I really don't get those kinds of assumptions, for the right wingers call them "liberal globalists" while leftists consider them "right wing conspirators," and at the same time Islamists link them to "Zionism" and pro-Israel lobbyists accuse them of being in bed with Islamists! So, what is it that Obama is supposedly after -- that is, whose agenda is he following if not working for America and what is that agenda?!
Old Tricks..New Gadgets...
by Aarash4545 on Tue Dec 13, 2011 06:24 PM PSTAmerica has delivered the new-age Trojan Horse to the idiots ruling Iran. They may ask it back but in reality they want it to stay, not just because it can give them yet another excuse for some kind on intervention, but mainly beacuse THE MACHINE is still gathering and relaying valuable information to the home base. So they get to know the most secreative locations where the craft is hidden or moved to, the faces and names of those working around it, and you never know, those stupid Pasdarans may even take it to Beit-e Rahbari to show it to AAghaa!
This is how Surgical Boming is planned!

On Obama
by masoudA on Tue Dec 13, 2011 03:53 PM PSTDear Arj, Obama is not working for America or on America's problems....in fact in many ways he is working against America. Majority of Americans are now aware of the takeover....hence the TEA PARTY....as you know the last Tea Party was about taking the country from the Colonialists....same as this one. Please don't take me wrong - this is not about left vs right or Democrats vs GOP - this is about Americans once again stranggled in the hands of colonialists.....represented by thousands of lobbyists and jerks like Soros..... It also happens that if Americans win - so will Iranians!!!
Re the presidency alternatives
by Arj on Tue Dec 13, 2011 03:13 PM PSTDear masoudA, Obama as opposed to what alternative?! He actually is trying hard (and failing miserably) to bring about what is actually needed in America -- reforming tax structures and enhancing financial regulations. What America is suffering from is mainly lack of a modern taxing system and functioning financial regulations. Conservatives not only can't alleviate the hardship, but they exacerbate it by advocating deregulations and rolling back taxes! Indeed, the last two defining conservative (Reagan and GWB) administrations' policies of dregulation and tax cuts resulted in the current financial crisis that U.S. is grappling with!

by masoudA on Tue Dec 13, 2011 02:32 PM PSTI hear you and as hard as it may be to believe........The capitalist Uncle Sam has become a victim of Capital...in the hands of Euro Royal agents like George Soros taking control of US media and the elections........hence implanting, for the second time in the last 40 years, a President in the White House.......
As you can see - the implant is in a such rush to do as much he can to help the Royals long term interests in the middle east.....
BTW - don't fall into the "Conspiracy Theory" trap......it's a new form of censorship.......Politics is nothing but conspiracy..
Re Obama
by Arj on Tue Dec 13, 2011 02:13 PM PSTDear masoudA, I don't believe that a U.S. administration (liberal or not) would have control over such a militarily specific and sensitive issue as UAVs and drone schedules! Besides, even if it did interfere in such matters, it would risk all kinds of perils of censure and impeachment, for what exactly?!
No offence, but IMHO, such distinctions between Obama (as a liberal or black/elite) and other presidents (i.e. conservatives) are chiefly based on stigmas that feed the conspiracy theories!
something like that arj.
by hamsade ghadimi on Tue Dec 13, 2011 01:47 PM PSTsomething like that arj. afghans are really good at banditry and smuggling, and the over-stretched u.s. intel/miltiary machine can sometimes be very incompetent or just can't possibly cover all of their tracks (dysfunctional as you call it).
it's just a possibility dude, don't lose any sleep over it. remember, we're speculating. :)

by masoudA on Tue Dec 13, 2011 01:45 PM PSTObama Adninistration delivered automatic weapons to Drug Cartels....later used to kill American DEA agents......is that disfunctional enough for you? In all fairness though - when it comes to foreign policies, US Presidents have almost full control....

by yolanda on Tue Dec 13, 2011 01:43 PM PSTIRI has successfully taken advantage of the downed drone and used that to avert diplomatic crisis. Not a long ago, the storming of the British embassy and withdrawal of ambassadors dominated the world news.....now, US is in diplomatic quagmire!
Re the delivery
by Arj on Tue Dec 13, 2011 01:40 PM PSTDear HG, "hence, the probability of one (if not more) malfunctioning and crashing in afg is great. some are probably recovered, some destroyed by u.s. personnel and one very special one captured, hidden and delivered to their rish o pashm brethren in iri." are you kidding?! "Captured, hidden and delivered" by whom?
This is not some radio-controlled toy that crashes and burns! This is a top secret, ultra sensitive millitary intelligence equipment whose pictures were not even widely publicized prior to that incident and whose absence would wreak havoc! How could the U.S. intelligence sit idly by for as long as it took and let whoever it is you're suggesting (Tliban, yes/no?) make the "capture, hiding and dlivery" arrangements?! Do you actually believe the U.S. intelligence is that dysfunctional?!
Thanks Bavafa....

no arj. i don't think
by hamsade ghadimi on Tue Dec 13, 2011 12:50 PM PSTno arj. i don't think that any ragtag taliban or pasdar could've shot down or gotten the control of the drone. there are quite a number of drones flying in afg; hence, the probability of one (if not more) malfunctioning and crashing in afg is great. some are probably recovered, some destroyed by u.s. personnel and one very special one captured, hidden and delivered to their rish o pashm brethren in iri. just speculating of course.
it could've also been flying over iran where it crashed all on its own (if it's not a trojan drone!) but not in kashmar; somewhere closer to a sensitive site. speculating again.
for sure, it didn't stray over from afg into iran over a malfunction.
Re speculations
by Arj on Tue Dec 13, 2011 12:29 PM PSTDear HG, as I noted before, the center of action for these UAVs are near the NWF region of Pakistani/Afghan border with Ghandehar being the nearest command centre to Iran which is still hundreds of miles away! So, in order for it to be transported to Iran (namely Kashmar), it has to have been hauled a thousand KMs!
Is it actually plausible to you that some Afghan warlord would shoot down or steal this drone near Ghandehar or farther in Afghan territory, make a secret deal with some pasdars and make delivery arrangements all the way to Iran without CIA or various American intelligence services having even had a clue?! If it is, then I rest my case, for it negates the whole purpose of hitech spyware!

arj, i haven't read
by hamsade ghadimi on Tue Dec 13, 2011 11:47 AM PSTarj, i haven't read nourizadeh's account (speculation) on this event. my first impression when iri claimed that the drone crashed in kashmar was disbelief as i know the area somewhat well. kashmar is basically middle of nowhere with a road that goes through it and dead ends in bardaskan. this area is almost cut off from civilization. if it did crash there, as you say it wasn't spying on any installation in that area as the infrastructure in the area cannot support transport of materials and sustain personnel. i'm not sure this type of drone can make it all the way to central iran and back. if so, that would be a possibility to spy on nuke facilities.
my speculation is that wherever this drone crashed, it is not where iri asserts it did (almost impossible to verify because of its remoteness). i think that iri would've taken the opportunity to take pictures of the crash site and even interview some locals for free and much needed propaganda of iri's prowess for the consumption of iranians living in iran and others in the region. i have a strong feeling that u.s. knows exactly where it crashed and is not saying. multiple military sources indicated that the wings were evidently cut off and put back together for show (they claimed it must've been cut off for easier transport). i think it gives credence to the possibility that it may have crashed outside the country and cut up to conceal its transport to iran (again, pure speculation).
at any rate, i agree that it's gone for good. and it will take a while for iri officials, in the true bazari fashion, heckle with the russians or chinese to get some value out of it (as opposed to "reverse-inventing" the wheel by themselves).

Re Arj
by Arj on Tue Dec 13, 2011 11:50 AM PSTDear HG, you are absolutely right about speculation. However, even near the Iranian border, there are no strategic targets even for spy missions for this UAV in a span of hudreds of miles. Its command base is in Ghandehar which is the centre of all actions for such missions. How has this aircraft ended up in Iran? My take is 99.9% recon and spy missions gone awry! I don't for a moment buy the "Hekmatyar selling the craft to Pasdars" story that is circulated by shady gossip columnists like Nurizadeh!
P.S. The only Salami I know goes on my club sandwich!!!
D/M, I'm not very good at reading sarcasm! What is it that you want me to explain to you?! An American spy aircraft is captured in Iranian territory. Who did it or how, I'm not making any speculations! However, that it was dismantled and not immediately taken to any important military base, is common knowledge all over the internet! What exactly is your beef with my comment here?! That the U.S. is "a good boy" and "not capable of intruding others' airspace?" See, after all I'm getting the hang of the sarcastic bull... only in the proper company!
arj, there is a possibility
by hamsade ghadimi on Tue Dec 13, 2011 11:10 AM PSTarj, there is a possibility that it didn't crash inside iran. there's a possibility that u.s. knows exactly where it crashed whether in iran or elsewhere but is not making that information available.
at any rate, we're speculating as you are (unless you know sargord salami). :)

Does your Definitive diagnosis of the situation that Noway No how, It was USA who was the Faulty party here, Stem from your Uber sensitivity of Anything nice that is said about them, Or is it because you were there on location with a film crew and all the other goodies?
Gone for good!
by Arj on Tue Dec 13, 2011 10:52 AM PSTThis has nothing to do with liberal or conservative! Obama asked for the return of the captured drone as GWB (the non-liberal) asked Chinese for the immediate return of the captured American spy plane back in 2001, and got flipped by the Chinese in response!
Since the captured craft was in violation of international law (intruding into Iranian air space), even after warning, U.S. is not justified to take military action, let alone bomb Iran (in other words, can't do a damn thing)! The only time they could get away with it, was when a drone was captured in former Yugoslavia and hidden in the Chinese embassy in Belgrade where the U.S. took advantage of the war situation, bombed the Chinese Embassy and called it an accident! But, this is an entirely different situation!
Moreover, as Esfand Ashena correctly noted, the drone was not taken to any strategically important military sites (rationally, out of a fear of Trojan horse ploy), electrincally disassembled and the components spread around before going on display!
