iranhumanrights.org: Interference by security and plainclothes agents in the funeral of prominent Iranian political activist Ezatollah Sahabi, including beatings of mourners, led to the death of Sahabi’s daughter Haleh, who suffered a fatal heart attack at the event today. “The shameful actions of government thugs in this incident reveal a deep contempt for traditions that belong to all Iranians, and they have resulted in a tragedy,” said Hadi Ghaemi, spokesperson for the Campaign. The Campaign called upon the Iranian Judiciary to investigate the incident at Ezatollah Sahabi’s funeral, and for Iran’s highest political and religious authorities to forbid security forces from any physical or psychological assaults or any other form of interference in funeral observances, regardless of the political views of the deceased and their families. A journalist present at the funeral procession of Ezatollah Sahabi, a prominent political activist, dissident, and a member of the Freedom Movement, told the Campaign that there was a large group of plainclothes and security forces present at the ceremony who beat a number of mourners >>>

What has become of us Iranians?
by Amir19 on Wed Jun 01, 2011 11:01 AM PDTI am very upset about this news. What the hell has become of us? Where is that Iranian pride? I wish we had a little bit of the Arab's guts dealing with their dictators! When in Iran, I remember how some made fun of Arabs, but I must admit, I wish our Iranian men had some of the guts that Arabs are showing in Yemen, Libiya and Syria these days. Shame on this regime and shame on us that we allow such crimes to go on for so long.
That’s horrendous
by Azarin Sadegh on Wed Jun 01, 2011 10:40 AM PDTI know someone from Sahabi family. He confirmed that his cousin has been murdered after being stabbed with a knife/sharp object…
Voila another reason to hate IRI...It is true that every day we hear a new horrific story from the IRI’s crimes…By now we should have been used to them…But there are days that these stories sound like bad fiction, like the work of a terrible thriller writer with unrealistic plots.
Just pure evil.
They Keep on Killing
by Bahram G on Wed Jun 01, 2011 10:39 AM PDTIt is most tragic the barbarism of this Islamist thuggery. They keep killing people one or two at a time while simultaneously killing the Iranian nation as a whole by slow death. Who are these creatures of disgust? When will they be put out of business? What can be done to restore Iran to its historical lofty place? A place where a hugely diverse yet civilized people who set and upheld high human standards.
I hope the day will come that every last one of these criminals, from Syyid Ali geda down to the last bsiji will be tried and sentenced for their horrific deeds.

shame on IRI
by Bavafa on Wed Jun 01, 2011 08:39 AM PDTSuch barbaric treatment Iranians are receiving from their ruling thugs
At Raoul1955:
To take joy from such horrific events and treatment of people specially those who have been fighting this regime, just because of a revolution that you do not agree with, makes you indistinguishable from the very thugs who are committing this crime.

I am not shocked.
by Anahid Hojjati on Wed Jun 01, 2011 08:24 AM PDTThe sad fact is that I don't even get shocked any more when I read news like this. It is just another example of brutality of IRI.

by ghalam-doon on Wed Jun 01, 2011 07:56 AM PDTAn Egytian activist once said " “I would tell Iranians to learn from the Egyptians, as we have learned from you.."
Unfortunately the same principle applies to the two friendly regimes!

America and the UK must be happy, human rights is #1 they say
by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Wed Jun 01, 2011 04:38 AM PDTSo they betrayed the Shah and have Supported IRI ever since.
Who remembers when their officials and media used to imply that Savak was purposely Torturing Iranians during the 1970's, which most people know never happened during those days?
//www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/ger...
What about proven US torture cells and the german citizen who was accidentally tortured for 5 monthsbecause he had the same name as a wated terrorist.
Who Remembers when their officials and media used to imply that the Shah was a dictator, despot, tyrant, megalomaniac?
Funny thing is I don't remember the Shah invading and occupying either Iraq or Afghanistan. I don't remember him ordering the deaths of so many young Iraqi's that today according to the government of Iraqs statistics greater than half of all the children alive in Iraq today are orphans.
Who remembers the CIA profile printed regarding the character of the Shah?
Who cares right, USA people have been the leaders of democratic republics for a long time, before I was born. If The IRI is a barbaric Criminal Regime, that is only because it was created and supported by the USA/UK/France/Germany.
Hopefully when every Iranian gets killed and tortured and raped in Iran and there will be many many cases in the coming years we will not forget the Shah or the Freedom he and his father gave their lives defending.
We the few patriotic Iranians who can say we did not betray the Shah, and we the many who were manipulated, made an honest mistake believing the lies about him and today regret betraying him, and we the new generation born after the Revolution, need to be honest with ourselves and admit that we need a leader to follow to get us out of this mess and that leader should be the lawful King of Iran.
Its time we stopped listening to words of the USA and UK and start paying attention to their actions. Never forget how powerful and free we were and can be again following our own Iranian Culture, which has been at the forefront of human rights (unlike the terrorist Islam they wanted for us and backed financially).
Javid Shah!
I am glad that
by Raoul1955 on Wed Jun 01, 2011 04:20 AM PDTIranians are enjoying all those 'imagined freedoms' that enticed them to overthrow a totally Westernized king for a Persian-styled [Shia] regime.
The Iranian situation should serve as a historical lesson for us all not to take LIBERALS or intellectuals seriously when it comes to social issues.
