shushtari, nice observation
by Monda on Sat Aug 14, 2010 12:50 PM PDTI'm totally with you. Also, we should bear in mind that the young generation inside Iran are very worldly, comparatively, due to their internet accessibility. And that contributes to some of the havoc they experience under IRI. Thanks for your comment.

seamorgh, my thoughts if interested
by Monda on Sat Aug 14, 2010 12:42 PM PDTThanks for reading about keyhan bachehaa and leaving your comment.
Firstly, I only know second-hand from my relatives about Majid, hadi va hoda, and many great children's programs which your generation grew up with. Please do share anything you may have on those stories, aside from what my generation may have caught on youtube and other sites. We are as curious about you young ones as you may be about us.
Secondly, I think the number of hits and comments that you notice, may also have something to do with the interest and curiosity of the younger readers of IC, about how the elders of Iranian in diaspora lived their childhood during the Shah. It helps the younger generation relate to the conflicts which we all experienced after the IRRI took over.
Universally and socialogically, Childhood is the most precious and educational in any generation's lifetime, yours had it really good too. As a representative of the elders on this site, I'd Love to read your stories. Please consider. Merci aziz.

by seamorgh on Sat Aug 14, 2010 08:48 AM PDTWhat is the average age of people who visit this site? If a magazine from the 60s brings back "good memories" for some, that could be good proxy of their approximate age :-) My childhood memories is filled with the stories of Majid, hadi va hoda, pesareh Shoja, and Ali Koochoolooo...
Bahram, You just made my weekend!
by Faramarz on Fri Aug 13, 2010 03:08 PM PDTThanks Bahram for the clip! It brought it all back to me; being 17 years old and singing along with Babaee! How I miss those mornings!

by shushtari on Thu Aug 12, 2010 09:57 PM PDTcompare the content of our children's books back then.....we were taught about science and other countries.....and were proud of our great heritage......to now:
the godamn akhoonds are trying to erase iran's history and just keep shoving nonsense about emam hussain and his 72 shahids....
but our youth know better......just like throughout history, it's the family that teaches values to it's kids and keeps our culture alive, not a godamn oghdeye akhoond

by Monda on Thu Aug 12, 2010 03:19 PM PDToooohhhh is my sentiment as well. Thank You for reading some of my childhood memories.
Anahid, I couldn't get enough of those ads, most of those women so lacked self-esteem, nah? I remember one who wrote "I know I look like Anita Ekberg, taghsiri nadaram" :o))
Fattolah jan, during my trips back to Iran in '84, '87 and '96, life was still good enough for me to think hard about not moving back there. It's the drastically diminished quality of life, survival under the brutal senseless ugly regime specifically during the past 10 years, that has made us stay away from our motherland. Hopefully day will come when we can all go back and still feel at home.
Abarmard gerami, I just cannot picture You at modir's office! You sound so intelligent, healthy and balanced now... playing outdoors had some to do with it and I bet also your upbringing in the nice environment of Ziba Shahr.

Dear Monda
by Abarmard on Thu Aug 12, 2010 03:50 PM PDTI wasn't much in to reading back then. I use to be playing all day in our beautiful and happy neighborhood of Ziba Shahr. Great school system and best memories. I remember however that I use to read Keyhan bacheha specially when I was waiting by Modir's office to be punished for something I had done :)
hey I wasn't even born then, but
by Fatollah on Thu Aug 12, 2010 01:19 PM PDTyou seem (including the commenters) to be lucky ones to have experienced happy childhood days of Iran before meyham started, anyways me, I remeber 75 then on. Nonetheless, thanks for sharing, and by the way you were cute in that picture, good choice.
Remember Zane Rooz personal ads?
by Anahid Hojjati on Thu Aug 12, 2010 12:18 PM PDTI used to get a kick out of Zane Rooz personal ads. For instance it would say:

MondaThu Aug 12, 2010 09:57 AM PDT
