Klezmer

by ComraidsConcubine on Tue May 03, 2011 07:58 AM PDTCan you not hear "Russian" gypsy klezmer in the Underdog World Strike in Sally? The fiddle is as distinctively klezmer as that old bore Gershwin's clarinet of Rhapsody in Blue.*
Wanna bet, that Shirin can hear it, after she's been revived from fainting, with kilos of smelling salts.
P.S. MG khan, I have to say, that I suffered tremendously when I first heard the album stuck in a car for hours! But it's very clever.

Shirin Khanom , I don't know this lady!
by Mash Ghasem on Tue May 03, 2011 07:11 AM PDTAnd that noise is definitely not my idea of punk rock. Bando Bassotie has a very strong WORKING CLASS tilt, hence their Arbeitlose song. That is a very old Labor movement song.
And now for some appropriate music, this is a very innovative Kelezmer band, cheers

childhood
by ComraidsConcubine on Tue May 03, 2011 05:32 AM PDTYou keep reminding me of my childhood! I can hear a Klezmer piece, almost "rendition"/"arrangement" ? in my head that was my first that i remember. Kar dastam daadid, because I can't remember which one of the famous violinists it was.
Another thing that you touched on that is delightful is, when discovering something amazing, (only) to find out that it is repeated regulary. Made me smile. Thank you.

Very nice, thanks Ahang for sharing
by Anahid Hojjati on Mon May 02, 2011 10:53 PM PDTI hear similarities between this music and Kazachok dances, but Kazachok were faster music. When I was young, Kazachok dances were popular in Iran and I once performed one in school with three other kids, we did the dance in pairs of two. As you noted, Klezmer has many roots which you named Russian as one of them and kazachok were Russian folk dances, like this one:

You should be least concerned with copyright since all your material is non-profit and educational, not to mention of the highest artistic quality.
Songs below are not exactly Klezmer, but close, a traditional, and a punk-rock one (former is a bit faster than your usual), cheers
