Abarmard

He was great

by Abarmard on

I loved him. I wish he was given a chance by the people during the heat of the revolution. Shah wated too long, too long.

Daryush

he was the modern day Mossadeq

by Daryush on

Do you really think that the west would've allowed him to rule Iran? He was a great man, too good for Iran. Can you compare khomaini with him? IRI knew his power that's why they killed him quick

Honest Hassan

Yes indeed...

Even he knew he was given the chance a little too late, but he still fought for what he believed in.

To : Jamshid

Not sure if Amini ( I assume you meant Ali Amini) was ever in Jebheh-eh-Melli. He and Bakhtiar did form a coalition while in exile though.

Re: Bakhtiar

Bakhtiar was a brave patriot who tried to save Iran against all odds. He is a true martyr of Iran.

Once he became prime minister, he was immediately endorsed by Sadighi and Amini, two reputable members of Jebehey Melli. Unfortunately, other members of Jebheye Melli, the majority, such as Sanjabi and Foroohar endorsed Khomeini instead of Bakhtiar.

I was in the streets in those days, actively protesting against the Shah's regime. Kwnowing the political atmosphere in those days, I can tell you with certainty that if Jebhey Melli had endorsed Bakhtiar and united in one front against Khomeini, Khomeini's chances for success would have been significantly reduced. The majority of those participating in the revolution were not religious Islamists nor even leftists. Jebheye Melli's words had a great impact in people's opinions in those days.

The world of Iranians would have been different today, had Bakhtiar succeeded in 1979, or at least in in 1981 with the Nojeh coup d'etat attempt. Let's not forget all those who were executed in that failed coup.

In my opinion, Bakhtiar was a braver, more knowleadgable and more of a patriot than even his role model, Dr. Mossadegh. Bakhtiar's name will remain in our history as one of the greatest Iranian "rejaal" of 20th century.

A True Patriot

by IRANdokht on

Dr Bakhtiar was and will always be the hero who tried to deter the madness that is known as Islamic revolution of 79. They tried to silence his voice and they finally murdered him in the most viscious way, but everyone learned that this brave man had the best intentions for his beloved counrty and compatriots.

His was a heartbreaking story of courage and sacrifice...

Roohash shaad
