it seems originality is a matter of personal believe. Yes it is more clear now but I do not beleive it is practiced fairly everytime, because some of blogs are repeat of recent ones but still get featured. Also hope to excuse me but what is so original about ZORO series.

Because there are more important blogs to be featured, like DK's Zorro series for example!! Don't you think so?

Yes there are always exceptions. Sometimes an "email from a friend" or a video alone are interesting enough to be featured.

People are welcome to repost blogs from other bloggers in their blogs :o)

Thank you for the clarification, because it is a question I have had, too. I understand space on the "Featured Blogs" list is limited and there is a healthy competition for a spot on that list. I have generally understood the originality to be the rule for featuring blogs. I consider this a fair practice where people's creativity and self expression is shared for others to see, and the contributor is encouraged to write more.

I think the question is raised because there have been occasions, however, when someone has copy/pasted a poem or an "email received from a friend" and the blog has been feaured, or when someone has posted a video without any added personal reflections and it has been featured.

I think with your clarification, we can now point out those blogs, hopefully without hurting the contributor's feelings.

I have another question for you. There are literally thousands of Iranian bloggers on the internet, producing interesting and noteworthy blogs both in Farsi and in English. If we find interesting blogs which we would like to share with others, there is no really good spot on the site where this can be done. News (which used to be News and Opinion) does not lend itself o non-news items and posting blogs would take us back to the cut/paste/ignore cycle. It makes me miss the old format were a one-line link which wouldn't take up too much space could give us an opportunity to share with others any good reads we have found. My two cents.

Featuring

Anahid explained it well. The blogs that get featured are usually original work -- expressing your point of view on any subject, telling a story in your own words, writing a poem... You are communicating something from within yourself.

Those blogs that do not get featured are less original material, like reprinting blogs from other sites, poetry from famous poets (new poetry is preferred), videos that have been featured before, Iran of yesterday, rather than today and tomorrow...

amirkabear4u: I think for a blog to be featured, JJ or whoever is doing the editing has to think that the blog is of interest to wide cross section of readers or if not, JJ has to believe something new or worthy is being written in the blog.  Also I think if some blogs are not featured, but readers make comments on the blog, JJ will consider number of comments too.  Sorry JJ, maybe I should not be talking for you but the question did not have your name so I am assuming amirkabear4u might be interested to know how other writers experience being featured or not. I am sure JJ can provide better answer but I write from my own experience.
