Manifest

Manifest

One restless night she appeared and noted:
"now that the blood
that they all tried to hide
has all but dried
steps are heavy
and heads are light
now that voices are silenced
but anguish is loud
... now that your May becomes June
but your books are immune
I have come to stay"

As I tried to talk
she played hide and seek
her voice was tender, never weak
she continued:
"Remember when your head was in stars
your feet were dancing
when X and Y were children's play
and multiple adjectives did not betray"

She brought two balls
one big and the other small
when she was not playing ball
she did the long jump and the knee high
In between the steps,
she did her last pray
at the end
with hammer and sickle
she did the manifest play.

To Raoul and other readers, I changed the poem to a previously

deleted one. Upon further reading,I decided to change this poem to another poem that I had inadvertently deleted couple weeks ago. that poem titled Manifest was originally featured in early June 2012. I kept the picture since it is always good to keep political prisoners in mind.

These are crisis times even more than the usual for the world. Recent news such as the shooting down of the Turkish plane over Syria, financial troubles in Europe which affects global markets makes me a bit more worried. The Srian killings have been going on for months too.

Regarding Europe, in my poem, I wrote:

and Europe questions majesty of its green

This is a reference to euro crisis in Europe. The important question in Europe is whether to continue with austerity measures; view championed by Merkel in Germany among others, or opt for growth measures, a view pushed by French President Francois Hollande.

I have been following the discussions in Europe more closely recently and it is fascinating. Just the other day, I read about Mario Monti, Italian prime minister leading a technocrat government which came to power as result of debt crisis in Italy. Here is a link to Wikipedia's info on him and its first few lines:

//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Monti

"

Mario Monti (Italian pronunciation: [ˈmaːrjo ˈmonti]; born 19 March 1943) is an Italian economist and academic who has been the 54th Prime Minister of Italy as well as Minister of Economy and Finance since November 2011, leading a government of technocrats in the wake of the Italian debt crisis.

Monti served as a European Commissioner from 1995 to 2004, with responsibility for the Internal Market, Services, Customs and Taxation from 1995 to 1999 and for Competition from 1999 to 2004. Monti has also been Rector and President of Bocconi University in Milan.

On 12 November 2011, in the midst of the European sovereign debt crisis, Monti was invited by President Giorgio Napolitano to form a new technocratic government (in Italian, governo tecnico) following the resignation of Silvio Berlusconi. Monti was sworn in as Prime Minister on 16 November 2011, just a week after having been appointed a Senator for Life.

..."

and here is a link to a recent article in washington Post on Mario Monti. Title of article is: "Can Mario Monti save the Italy - and the euro?"
