Nowadays everyone writes about how wrong it is to tell others to kill a singer for what they have sung. Seriously? If there are people out there that have such mentality, why would they start changing their mentality because of one article that someone in Diaspora writes? Most people are for freedom of speech so for most people, these kind of articles are like preaching to the choir. Sad to say but unfortunately, opposition to IRI for many intellectuals is a business. They have to have some output so they write article after article and someone pays them for these articles too. Some people read them but after a while many readers realize that these articles don't offer any solutions or don't get opposition any closer to goals. They are just good for fulfilling someone 's quota of writing. Or someone can claim that they supported right of Shahin Najafi for freedom of speech. Is there any educated person who is not brainwashed by IRI or is not an agent of IRI who does not believe in freedom of speech?
Iranians get obsessed with somebody or something, a song, a team, a movie, etc. If there is a soccer game and Chelsea plays, for days many Iranian guys (and some women too) talk about it as if their life depends on its results, or about NIAC. They talk endlessly as if they are inside ... NIAC. People who have no imagination do this. Day in and day out, they either have to write about Chelsea or NIAC or Golshifteh's boobs or Najafi's song. For god's sake, use your degrees and come up with a new idea. But that is too much to expect. These people have a hard time to come up with original ideas even if their lives depended on it. So day in and day out, we read about Golshifteh's boob or Najafi's song. Any way, as long as there are those of us who are satisfied with mediocrity, that is what we get too.

by Anahid Hojjati on Sat May 26, 2012 02:04 PM PDTsome of the more recent comments are more about details of which team is b etter and i don't know much about that. writing this blog and reading your comments made me realize why guys on this site are fascinated with discussions about niac and mek. it is like guys' attraction to action movies. they can discuss bad guys and it seems the hero in these blogs and articles about mek and niac are the writers of blogs who are thinking that they are saving us from these two groups. i have issues with both groups but i think if we don't find a party or organization to our liking and we have such strong opinions about it, perhaps it is time to form our own party/organization. another option is to join and hope to make changes from within. i don't have same advice about soccer teams for ic writers interested in soccer.

Barcelona is the Best!
by Faramarz on Fri May 25, 2012 02:10 PM PDTRed Wine Jaan,
Despite your dislike for Barcelona, they are the class of world football. They are the best thing since the Ajax of the early 70's.
Take a deep breath and compare them to Real Madrid. The team that is being coached by a low-life like Morrinho, the guy that gets into fights on the sidelines with the opposing players, the person that Real's board member and a class act, Di Stefano does not approve of. The team that puts the low lives like Pepe, Marcelino and Ramos on the field.
Spain's national team is Barcelona+ 2 or 3 other players.
Setting aside the politics, Barcelona is one of the best teams ever.

by Anahid Hojjati on Fri May 25, 2012 07:25 AM PDTMamoor, whatever problems that there are with opposition to IRI, at least they are the opposition to a brutal regime, which is what is needed now. Also as MRX1 pointed, so many members of opposition have been killed by IRI so we have been deprived of input and activities that many could have had if they were not killed by IRI.
Not entirely mr Mammor
by MRX1 on Thu May 24, 2012 09:48 PM PDTIf Iranian opposition out side of iran was a joke why did your pals in sepah killed: Dr. Bakhtiar, general oveisi and his brother, abdolrahman boromand, fereydon farokhzad, colonel bay ahmadi, shahriar shafigh, sadegh sharfkani and many many others. I am not even going to talk the massacares of the opposition inside Iran that will fill up pages!
Iranian opposition was not a joke. It became a joke when it's real patriots got killed by your pals and their place was taken by wimpy leaders with their green, yellow or purpole collor wrist band with a usuall rubbish of reform and secualrism and obsession with mossadegh so forth and so on. So yes your are partialy right, but the price of you being right came from thousends of Iranian patriots sheding blood all over the place. Hope you are happy with the result!

by مآمور on Thu May 24, 2012 07:20 PM PDTsorry to bother!!
Iranian opposition, from very first day, did not have any thing to offer, no idea how to topple the regime, no credibility among decision makers in the west, no honesty to be an alternative to IRI and the last but not the least the Iranian opposition got no gut- they talk the talk but they stop doing the walk!!
Again, I m sorry to interrupt your blog, I thought, u may need some body out of your comfort circle to tell u why......
Iranian opposition is a joke!!

Anahid Advice, the solution is simple, but very difficult due to
by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Fri May 25, 2012 05:20 AM PDTWest & Iranians... The Situation-The USA/UK/France Love IRI and Anti-Secular religous extremism for Iran and others, their main goal which they have succeeded at is to dupe Irans Intellectuals with deadly deceits in order to thwart Iran and her potential. The west is opposed to both democracy and human rights for others clearly and obviously.
Solution, Iranian Unity based on accepting the leadership and approach of a leader, we are blessed as iranians to already have this. That means we can and must Unite and accept the leadership of Reza Pahlavi, whether or not we wish to see the monarchy in Iran, for the goal he has stood for 30 years. His goal is to provide a UN monitored election giving the people of iran the ability to choose the future form of government they want, everyone but IRI supporters need to be clear & unite behind him and this approach. Until IRI is removed we have no way to move forward or hold debates with each other in iran and until then we must not debate on the form of govt we want as if that is our most important objective (which is to remove extremism from iran), but all accept a democratic solution by the ballot box after IRI is brought down.
Frankly what else is there to discuss Anahid Thats all there is to it.

by hamsade ghadimi on Thu May 24, 2012 01:25 PM PDTentertaining blog anahid. you shoud have sequels to it like "who cares? (part 5)." in part 2, you can discuss those who live in a time capsule and have found a novel way of making paragraphs: use only videos, one liners and emoticons. ;) in one part, you can discuss organizations made up of ex rafsanjani employees, amirahmadi interns, hozieh offsprings, and the rest of their members who are as mad as hell about iri opponents, or anti-iran as they like to call them. internet professors with unfulfilled careers should also provide a lot of material. i can go on but i think that you get the idea. :D ;-p
