Online Christians, Muslims and atheists are at it again, this time in a fierce battle to outdo each other in a Christmas charity drive. The three way goodwill assault began when the Christian “faction” of the reddit.com social group site started a charity drive to raise $12000 for digging clean water wells in impoverished areas. “Oh yea?!” said the Atheist “faction” only a day later.” “If the Christians can raise that much for clean water, we can raise four times as much for Doctors Without Borders. We’re in for $48000!” Three days later Muslims joined the brawl and set their goal for $5000. The Muslim site even put links to the other two groups for their cross donating morteds.
Here’s the score last I counted.
Christians have raised $11543 in the 8 days since they started. 9017 members. Goal=$12000
Atheists have raised $33252 in the 7 days since they started. 105,587 members. Goal=$48000
Muslims have raised $360 in the 4 days since they started. 2224 members. Goal=$5000
For each “faction,” Hesaab konid how much per member per day has been donated so far.
enshaa question: discuss the significance of the goal amounts per capita.Note: Can't find a Jewish "faction" in this particular fight, but I suspect there are plenty of Jews hiding in the atheist category.

I am guessing that the Jewish fraction has already started a "charitable fund" which is issuing $3 tax reciepts for every 50c donation ;-)
Need more information
by divaneh on Fri Dec 17, 2010 01:10 PM PSTThe objective of the Muslim charity campaign is missing and that is a very important factor. For example if it was to help the Jewish orphans then this is already a very generous figure. It would be an abysmal figure if the objective was to buy bombs to blow up Jews.

by maziar 58 on Fri Dec 17, 2010 11:45 AM PSTAn American couples goes to holy land with the old mother in law in tow and after a week of sight seeing... and all of a sudden she dies of an heart attack.

I think we still need to divide per number of days
by Azarin Sadegh on Fri Dec 17, 2010 08:52 AM PSTI think to find out the amount donated per day and per member, we need to divide Ali P.'s numbers per total number of days per group.
And if we do there is almost no difference between Atheists and Muslims.
ali p. got the numbers
by hamsade ghadimi on Fri Dec 17, 2010 08:49 AM PSTali p. got the numbers right but his answer was not entirely correct. we don't know how many persons contributed; therefore, the unit is "per member."
jews are actually very good at donating for their own cause and i think that they like to keep their numbers private. which brings me to the story of my mechanic, moshe: this guy is obviously well off and has been in business for many years. he happens to live a block from me. once i went to his house to talk about my car and he invited me in. i was kind of surprised that he had a german sheppard but i guess he's open minded about dogs. mind you, he tells me that he's never met an iranian he didn't like. anyway, i noticed that the interior of the house, although clean, was in disrepair. there were cabinet doors missing in the kitchen. the furniture had all kinds of holes and blemishes. and the dining table was very small and all scrtched up. but there was a big can in the form of a piggy bank in the middle of the table with a flag of israel around it. he even collected donation for israel from his family in his house. now, that's dedication.
btw, have a safe and fruitful journey.
Jews in the atheist category
by Monda on Fri Dec 17, 2010 08:32 AM PSTActually Ari, while reading your blog yesterday (questions in Israel), the first thing that popped in my mind was, specifically this: How have the Moslem/ Jewish conflicts impacted spirituality of the Jews living in Israel?
P.S. Ali P. did the arithmetic already. (hosseleh daasht)
P.S.S. Irrelevant to this blog, but a friendly heads up: I have heard many reports of travelers to Israel about devastating citizen beauties whom they fell in love with... Watch out Ari! Or better yet, don't watch out, just be open and enjoy your journey. In your Israel travel blogs, Please cover at least one romantic (erotic be totally Ok too, in any format including art installations) story. Thank you.
Aaghaa maa begeem...?
by Ali P. on Fri Dec 17, 2010 06:05 AM PSTSo far , they have raised these numbers:
Christians: $1.28/person
Atheists : $0.32/person
Muslems: $0.16/person
Finding out the fact that Ali P. has no life: priceless!
Thanks Ari jan for a fascinating blog
by Anahid Hojjati on Fri Dec 17, 2010 01:33 AM PSTIt is too late or rather too early to answer questions or write Enshaa, maybe I will do that later. However, just wanted to write that I liked your blog. Interesting subject; all these guys trying to outdo each other.
