Here is some video I made, took me about 60-70hrs over 5 days (didnt really sleep after work lol)...
Anyway I hope you like it, the animation itself is meant to be a cute satire, but the pics/video at end are meant to show serious things going on in iran...
NOTE: blurry video of NEDA used at end! Please dont be offended i used that video (just dont like her death to be in vain, + remind us that people die in Iran)... anyway here it is:
Here are links if you want to send to friend/family...
Regular size, High Quality:
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BDrXA66vfk
or if youtube takes it down (cause of the music used):
//www.metacafe.com/watch/4186681/young_love_i...
Larger, but less high quality (if have to show on larger monitor/tv for some reason):
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BDrXA66vfk&fmt=18
I always wanted to make a video about Iranian's being suppressed since its inspiring to see people so passionate they are willing to protest and die for their rights. Anyway I never really figured what story I wanted to tell until I heard the Muse songs Resistance and Uprising and went the more love-story route since Valentines Day was coming up too. Also Resistance is about love in an Orwellian/1984-ish society which reminds me of Iran where you cannot hold hands in public cause the religious police can make a stink about it. This video was used for a contest to meet the band Muse. This is the longer version for Iranians with pictures at the end, to provide a serious note to the almost satiric animation. Hope the blurry cut of Neda's death doesn't offend anyone. I just wanted someone like her to inspire people even in death, about what they are fighting for.
(Sorry some subtitles/action is short/fast cause trying to limit it close to 1 minute for a contest so watch it once paying attention to the subtitles to get the general feel for the animation, then watch it again payin more attention to animation if ya want)
P.S. Note to Americans:
Basij are the religious militiamen who are mean + kill people, especially protesters this year.
The girl at the end was a protester called Neda, who was shot in the heart and killed by a Basij militiaman.
Plot is Two people trying to live + love in Iran. The girl is a female right leader. A religious militia man is trying to find her for the government to kill her. He takes her away to be hanged/executed the next day. The boyfriend vows to save her and vows vengeance on her captor. Boyfriend shows up. Defects the cannonball with his heart, kills evil guy's minions (the Mr. T doll I had), saves the girl, pushes the evil Basij off the platform, and ride off into the sunset to Mexico to escape their troubles. Various babies are used in the evil guy like his nose to represent how the religious fundamentalists rob + trample over the youth of Iran (and thats why his nose/baby is freed at the end).
Again hope people aren't offended in anyway.
Enjoy, and Keep on fighting !!!,
Arian Hojat !!!

>have you tried sending it to current tv ? for a much larger audiences?
I dont know what 'current tv' is ... Is it current.com i guess?, or a persian media website?
> Keep Up the Good work. Are you in the movies or Advertisement or just doing this for fun ?
Nah, I do some website development for a bio-tech in Philly since I was Computer Science major, but I minored in Digital Media so i do silly video stuff often for fun in my spare time, like so:

by Darius Kadivar on Thu Feb 25, 2010 08:26 AM PSTIt must be fun but very demanding to get it right. I also love Tim Burton's work on one of his animated films. I forgot the exact name.
Stop Motion truly deserves to be used more often. I am really fed up with CGI effects. I know they are perfect and smooth but they just seem to take away all the fantasy.
I know that there is a remake of Harryhausen's movie Clash of the Titans coming out soon but it will be very different with the use of CGI instead of Stop Motion.

Got to wait and see. I still think I will like it but well this is the original one:

But I prefer the actor in the new remake more. He is less effeminate than in the 1981 version.
Keep Up the Good work. Are you in the movies or Advertisement or just doing this for fun ?
Thanks Darius, I actually
by armyofda12mnkeys on Thu Feb 25, 2010 08:10 AM PSTThanks Darius, I actually put some Harryhausen movies on my Netflix cause I haven't seen them since I was a kid; and the Brothers Quay shorts since I heard good things about them too.
I also liked the movie Caroline artistically cause it was a blend of cgi/claymation style (although it didnt have as much heart as Wall-E/Up.
Love Stop Motion especially Since Ray Harryhausen's movies
by Darius Kadivar on Thu Feb 25, 2010 03:44 AM PSTExcellent Work ! Congrats. It's really Hard Stuff !
Ray Harryhausen's Creature List:

The Fantastic Mr. Fox was made in Stop Motion too.
Really changes from all the CGI trend that I find less magical !
