"The Israeli Arab conflict is the result of interactions of superpowers in the early 20th century. British and French strategic interests in the Middle East were related to the Mediterranean trading route, which went from the Suez channel to Indian markets. But the presence of the Ottoman navy based in the Levant was a direct threat to British interests. So the British and the French decided to divide the Middle East into smaller entities and countries to make it impossible for the Ottoman Empire to control them all. A century later, the legacy of European colonization of the Arab world is reflected by its many ongoing conflicts."

Artemis Is Right
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sat Oct 01, 2011 12:58 PM PDTThe British did create a lot of the trouble. First of all they always encourage division. Reminding people of their differences not similarities. I am in America and most people don't know or care where I am from.
When they do know they still don't seem to care. Really I tell them I am from Iran and mostly get a "no reaction". This despite the bad feelings between us. British on the other hand are very aware of who is "what". I was at a pub in America and the one British guy with us started questioning me. Why am I drinking; isn't is against Islam and so on. Finally told him "I didn't expect that kind of Spanish Inquisition" which cracked him up.
Yes why did they have to go and divide up the region to begin with. It is not theirs to give. Then giving it to two groups while encouraging their differences. Great: now we got a big fight on our hands.
As for Jews: yes they have a very long history in the region. They are not going anywhere. I just wish we had better relations. Stopped undermining one another as people like Bernard Lewis do. Nothing good will come out of Balkanization.
Not the BBC deliberately misnames Persian Gulf. I bet their sole reason is to inflame hatred. Get Arabs and Iranians to be upset at one another. For thousands of years we said Persian Gulf. Arabs were fine with it. But now we argue over it.
Why: because it benefits some to have us fight. While they get to rip us both off. The more we "Arabs; Jews; Iranians" fight the more others benefit. Let us not be stupid and not fall for it once again.
Thank you Bavafa &
by Arthimis on Sat Oct 01, 2011 11:56 AM PDTThank you Bavafa & Rozzbeh_Gilani for your comments. Obviously I agree with both of you here, That's why I posted this blog to begin with... What amazes me is how all the uninformed people are misjudging the history of the people and the area of this world due to their ignorance and prejudices ... Yes, Israel is the newest of all those countries in the area... But the Arabs mix their religion (Islam) with their so called countries identities! If that's the case , Israeli (Jews) have 3500 more years of history in that area!!!
They are so much alike that they actually hate each other now like bad cousins ... I seriously believe the British are the root cause of all that mess there... After beating the Ottoman empire, The Brits released (with conditions of receiving future indefinite favors in return...) territories to Both Arab and Jews!!!! First they gave all the lands to the Arabs from Saudi to Syria, but when it got to that little area of Israel, The Brits committed the ultimate crime! First they gave it to the Arabs and told them you can call it : "Palestine" , later they turned around (after WW-II) and gave it to the Jews and told them : now you can call it : "Israel"!!! Bastards.... >:-(((
(A side note: Did you know the only passport that does not require visa and work permit in all those little Arab countries of Persian Gulf is the British passport, even now!!!! (wink, wink.....) Let's face the TRUTH, Brits still own all the area along their governments , including the Islamic Republic even though they didn't directly colonize Persia in the past (just occupied along the Russians...)
In conclusion, everyone knows that Jews have more history than the Muslims... So go figure... (Haalaa hey Begardid doonbaleh Porteghaal Foroosh...)

You are right, European colonialists have a lot to answer for.
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Fri Sep 30, 2011 04:47 PM PDTTo start with, every single "country" on arabian peninsula was invented by the French and British from territories they captured of ottoman empire, and the "rulers" of these so called "countries" were chosen from their local colonial servants. Countries like Iraq, syria, saudi arabia. Jordan and lebanon and even egypt are good example of how these so called "countries" came to existance. Israel is indeed the latest one of these countries. Now this historical basic fact places a huge question mark in front of "plaistinains" claim for statehood.

Thanks for posting it...
