To TeaPartiers: Christians have more in common with Muslims than Jews

I was appalled to hear Ron Paul on the Jay Leno show, just come straight out and say "Oh Michele Bachman, she hates Muslims" and " Rick Santorum, Oh he hates gays and Muslims". And we know too well, Newt Gingrich's position on Muslims, you just have to have heard in New York last year, lambast Muslims. America, you see, is a JudeoChristian country?! What?! What the hell is that supposed to mean. Since when are Christians: JudeoChristians? You hear it over and over again - as if somehow he is getting paid to make a special connection with Judaism and Christianity...  If he means Christians follow the Abrahamic tradition of faiths, i.e. derive from Judaism, well, have news for him, so does Islam. In fact Islam has much more in common with Christianity than Judaism does.

In fact, there are many Christians that openly espouse their hatred for Jews. Hitler was a Church going Christian. And it was only a few years ago, the a drunk Mel Brooks, was screaming "Jews Killed Jesus"...

Now, I am not attacking Judaism. In fact, to be very candid with you, I value and respect the Jewish community. I love them and have nothing against them. But, I do think that the "Prostitution" on Capital Hill, and the tactics of the pro-Israeli lobby to decry Muslims is absolutely abhorent, and in the long run will boomerang and hurt the Jewish community. Jewish extremists will destroy it all - for everyone: Jews, Muslims and Christians. They are turning everyone against each other. And whores like Michele Bachman, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich along with shit media channels like Fox News.

The damage that they are causing is far beyond their comprehension. I am not religious. I am not a supporter of the IRI (I have said in my blogs many times, over and over again, that the Islamic Republic of Iran is neither Islamic (its a fake religious mafia grabbing money and power in the name of religion), nor a Republic (all elections in Iran are fake), nor Iranian (the leadership, like Larijani brothers, are a bunch of foreign infiltrators - Arabs). But, as an Iranian-American; I feel a deep sense of humiliation and anger at the attacks on Muslims in this country. It not only affects me, but also impacts my family, my children - every relationship we have in the U.S. at work, at school, with my neighbors is now tainted or strained with this anti-Islamic rhetoric. This very bad. I left Europe (i.e. immigrated here) because of rampant racism in Europe and until 9/11, I really never felt so bad in the U.S. - but now, I just can't wait to go back to Iran - I do not want to live where my family, my community and me are hated...and I won't play a fake game of telling everyone to call me Mo or Sam or Freddy...and say I am turkish or Italian etc. (as so many Iranians here do). NO.

To those Christians that listen to these political whores, let me just say flat out: Muslims share much more with Christians than do Jews. Muslims are not the enemy. Muslims have never been the enemy. But those that stand to gain by pitting Muslim against Christians are stoking fires and Americans are foolish to just accept the propaganda at face value.

Here are the facts:

1) Muslims revere Jesus Christ. A significant part of the Qur’an, the Holy Scripture of Muslims, is devoted to Jesus Christ. For an example, one of the chapters of the Qur’an is named after Mary, probably the only woman mentioned by name in the Qur’an, which refers to her as an example to the humankind. The Qur’an recounts the virgin birth, that Jesus Christ is not like any other human being, that he was a ‘word’ sent to Mary, that he was ‘raised’ to heaven, that he performed many miracles. There are countless references to the Bible in the Quran.  It is important to recognize that there are many different versions of the Bible, but only one version of the Quran (the Quran has not been changed, or officially translated); yet the portions of the Quran that reference the Bible are present in EVERY version of the Bible; and they involve both the Old and the NEW testament.

On the other hand, Jews do not accept Jesus at all. And the only portions of the Bible that are "shared" with the Torah are in the old testament. Indeed, it is well known that Jews killed Jesus because they could not accept his claim to be the messiah. Jews rejected Jesus Christ - outright.

2) Over 50 people and stories in the Quran are found in the Bible. This is FAR greater than any shared references between the Torah and the Bible. Here is a partial list of major narratives that are shared: )Old Testament): The story of Adam and Eve; Story of Cain and Abel; Story of Noah (Ark); Story of Abraham and his promised son, and then the story of his son's sacrifice; Story of Lot and Sodom, Story of Joseph, Story of Moses; Story of Gideon, Story of Saul, David and Goliath, Story of the Queen of Sheba, the story of Jonah, the Story of Haman... (New Testament): Story of Zechariah, John and Yahya, Story of Mary, Story of Jesus... I could go on and on.

This is MUCH more than the shared elements between the Bible and the Torah. It is a fact.

3) The Prophet Muhammad also had a wonderful relationship with many Christians. When the Prophet Muhammad experienced his first revelation in 610 CE, one of the first people with whom he discussed the matter was a Christian, a cousin of Muhammad’s wife. Also, it was a Christian ruler, the King of the Christian kingdom of Abyssinia, who gave asylum to the first Muslim community of migrants when they fled Mecca because they were persecuted in that city for their beliefs. The King gave them complete freedom to practise their new religion under his protection. It was thus under Christian protection that the earliest Muslims managed to practise their religion freely first.  It is a simple fact, that until the creation of the State of Israel, Christians and Muslims live side by side throughout Arabia for many centuries...and there are large Christian communities in Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran... etc.

On the other hand, if you do a quick search on the internet, you find open, deep seated "anger" at Jews from Christian pastors. You can easily find page after page of open hostility with claims that Christians have ALL rejected Judaism and that At one time or another jews have been expelled from every Christian country in Europe. Entire jewish populations have been purged. Just to give you a thumbnail chronology of real history, France was one of the first European nations which forced the deportations of jews in 1182 AD; England in 1290; France again in 1306 and 1322; Hungary in 1360; Belgium in 1370; Austria in 1420; Bavaria in 1442; Netherlands in 1444; Poland in 1483; Spain in 1492; Italy in 1492; Lithuania in 1495; Portugal in 1496; Prussia in 1510; Italy in 1540; Prague in 1541 and 1557; the Papal States in 1569; Hamburg in 1649; Vienna in 1669; Slovakia in 1744; Moscow in 1891. If Christians had so much in common with Jews, why has there been such blatant rejection of Jewry for literally thousands of years by Christians?

Finally to those that state that somehow Muslims are trying to impose "Sharia Law" in the U.S. - let me say that is the biggest pile of bullshit ever. And its being fed by ruthless bastards who are manipulating the media and Americans. First of all, Sharia Law is NOT even law or the basis of Law in MOST Muslim nations!! Secondly, its like saying just because a Hindu (Indian) immigrated to the U.S. that that person somehow wants to impose Indian Laws on the U.S' and thirdly, these people don't even know what Sharia Law means? Sharia Law is primarily a moral code - a personal code - that for example many Muslim minorities (like for example in India) maintain among themselves BUT DO NOT IMPOSE ON OTHERS. I mean these attacks are beyond ridiculous. Its outright stupid.

Since 9/11, Americans have become much more responsive to hate speech directed at Muslims. Open warfare in Iraq and Afghanistan, did not help reduce this polarization. But, I believe this hatred is misplaced and being manipulated, and amplified for the benefit of other nations...NOT Americans and NOT Muslims. It weakens American globally, and weakens Muslims globally...it only strengthens those who benefit from division and polarization. The arms merchants who have profited from the Bankruptcy of America and Europe; and the Israelis... who calculate that their survival depends on sewing war between Christians and Muslims.

There are many theories now that 9/11 was purputrated by Israelis. And there are youtube videos now showing interviews on Israeli TV with Mossad agents that were present on roof tops during 9/11 (cheering) who were then aprehended and then released in the U.S. who openly admit to being sent to New York, before 9/11, to report on the events (basically admitting that Israel knew about the events before hand). I do not subscribe to these stories, but I have to say, I find the money the Jewish lobby is spending on getting Christians to attack Muslims and even possibly getting Muslims to attack Christians - very suspicious.

American you are being brain washed and manipulated. Muslims you are being brain washed and manipulated. It is time to really understand the facts. The truth is Christians, Jews and Muslims - ALL share enough common heritage, and have fundamental concepts of Love of God, and Love for their neighbors - that they should NEVER be at War with each other.  Those that seek to divide and conquer, those that seek to sew hatred between Christians, Jews and Muslims are fundamentally neither Christian, Jews and Muslims - they are unprincipled bastards.

If you want a clue about what a bastard politicians like Newt Gingrich are ... just look at his 3 marriages...and how he treated his ex-wives. It turns out his first wife worked and paid for Newt to go to school. She fed him, paid for him to go all the way through to get his PhD... he then had an affair and then he dumped her. She was sick in the hospital, dying of uteran cancer, and this bastard had the audacity to deliver divorce papers to her in the hospital in her death bed. He's a real bastard. And by the way, he did this again and again (yes he did the exact same thing to his second wife). This is someone who stands for Christian family values. And THE front runner for the Republican Party nomination.

Let me just finish by saying, there are 1.2 Billion Muslims on this planet. Islam is the fastest growing religion in the U.S. There are radicals in every faith...no-one can reason with them....and they for sure do not represent the vast majority i.e. 99.9999% of Muslims, or Christians, or Jews... We all love our children and want a better life for them. This hate speech by Michele Bachman, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, the Tea Party crowd, etc. will NOT make the world a better place.

Spread the message. Spread the Love.

There is no question Hitler was a Christian ...

by ayatoilet1 on

Here's an exert from a book on Hitler's Christianity:

"Adolf Hitler himself was indeed  a true (spiritual) son of Luther and in many ways was only being logical to the principles set forth by Luther in his approach to things. Hitler himself declared the reality of this point in one of his speeches saying: “I do insist on the certainty that sooner or later – once we hold power – Christianity will be overcome and the German Church established. Yes, the German church, without a Pope and without the bible, and Luther, if he could be with us, would give us his blessing.” - ( Adolf Hitler, Hitler’s speeches, edited by Prof. N.H. Baynes [oxford, 1942], pg. 369).

Here's a link to a series of articles about Hitler's very devout Lutheran church involvement. There is a photograph there of all the church deacons with swastikas.  It might be an inconvenient truth for Christians, but Hitler was a Christian ...no doubt.

There is also new evidence emerging that the Catholic faith, notably the Vatican collaborated with the Nazi's. I think I will write a whole blog on this so that you and others can have a decent review of the facts.

Hilter was not church-going

Ayatoilet,

stop pulling facts out of the toilet. Hitler was not church-going. He never spoke about his faith and tried to control Catholic Church in Germany.

American Christians are already awash in inter-faith Kumbaya !,and yes, we love our Raghead brothers>>>but that doesn't change the face of Islam-themed persecution of Christians, and terrorism. I thought that Herman Cain's pandering to Islamophobia was the most egregious, but we haven't noted a big increase in the number of headless Moslem bodies dumped on our streets.

Fleeing from America to the ME might not be the best way to avoid ethnic tensions.

Yes, very insightful. This is obviously a complex subject.

Yes & No

ayatoilet1,

While I agree w/ the part of your message against racism, some of your analysis is not so believable.  The Tea-Party-type hysteria towards Muslims and the related Sharia-phobia is not predominantly steered by what you call the "Jewish lobby."  Main right-wing Tea Party funders like the Koch brothers are not even Jewish, and the main constituency of this group comes from the conservative evangelicals from the Bible belt and the South.  Although, such groups are strongly allied with the right-wing ruling Israel, they have their own agendas, which are largely theological.  Some may be surprised to hear that Christian Zionism has a longer history than Jewish Zionism.

In addition, American Jews are by a wide margin liberal and vote Democratic.  Even in the last presidential election, where racist insinuations about Obama's Muslim background were prevalent, he got over 80% of the Jewish vote, considerably higher than the national average.  Most readers may not realize that Republican candidates have no hope of winning majority Jewish vote in presidential elections.

As far as your analysis of which couple of Abrahamic religions match up better among the 3 of them, it's a matter of theological interpretation.  Some would argue that Judeo-Islamic is the most sensible among the 3 possible pairings.   I've heard from Orthodox Jews that, while they view Christianity as equivalent to idolatry (b/c of the son-of-god and trinity notions), they view Islam as essentially monotheisitc (eventhough they view Mohammad as a false prophet).  Generally, Jewish rituals have more similarity to Islamic ones that to Christian ones (such as the Kosher/Hallal business).  There are also historical instances of Christian fanatics oppressing Jews & Muslims together, such as the persecutions that followed the Catholic takeover of Spain from the Moores, and the Crusaders' massacres of the Jewish/Muslim inhabitants of the Holy Land. But such considerations shouldn't be of major concern as far as your anti-racism message goes.
