Ek Se Bure Do – Double Whammy For Arshad

TS Eliot had said “April is the cruellest month” (The Waste Land, 1922). This is still true in 2009 especially in Bollywood.

Consider this entire month of April has been taken up by producer-multiplexes row for a share of revenue. They don’t think of the audience. And the audience is deprived of major good releases.

Taking refuge in the row, bad films and backlogs are being cleared. What more ‘cruelty’ can be inflicted on the poor audience, who as it is become poorer by buying tickets to these nonsensical flicks. Wish such films were never made, moreover never released.

Many sensible and well-liked small-budget films were made in the past like Parzania, Dasvidaniya and Firaq among many others that made us reflect as well as enjoy the parallel cinema.

But what about the two duds that have released this week and give pain all over the body. It is a wonder any producer could think of financing such trash. He must have lost touch with reality when he said yes to financing such projects. Releasing these films, he has transferred his headache to the audience.

So, dear audience, if you know what is good for you, stay clear of these trashes. Read the reviews and thank god that you escaped the greatest ESCAPE ever. After all, you don’t like paid headaches for which you have to purchase Anacin. Double loss!

Let’s discuss the first dud. Arshad Warsi has done reasonably well for himself but he is doing one better than Akshay Kumar, who has had a hat-trick of flops recently (Jumbo, CC2C and 8x10 Tasveer).

Warsi’s films are on a backlog of clearance so we’ve had Kisse Pyaar Karoon (2005), now Ek Se Bure Do (2007), and in future Zamanat (2002) and Jeetenge Hum (2001).

Warsi will be celebrating a tetra-trick of flops, no doubt so he has kept away from the promotion of these flicks. A wise decision but too late. Wish he was wiser not to act in them.

The movie is so bad I don’t know where to start or what is its high-point. But I must start somewhere and let me tell the plot. Sadly, there is no plot. So! Let me try again at this supposed ‘comedy’ of terror (for the audience).

Warsi and Rajpal Yadav are two small-time crooks, who run after money. They usually con Don Jagat Dada to swindle his money. The dada tells them to steal a map that will lead to a huge treasure. They do but realise the map is worth more than what the dada had told. So, they decide another con on don.

Khallas! This is it. I should say, this is also too much to write. All TV actors are here in full display. Wish they had stayed on the small screen rather presenting a pitiable on the silver screen.

Let’s not talk about the heroines. There is no cinematography to write about. There is nothing except an item number “Teri Aankh Sharabi”. You don’t wanna purchase a ticket for an item number. Better watch it on Youtube.

Suffice it to say, you have escaped a nightmare. Say Amen and have a good night sleep. Forget any movie released this week.
