It’s so easy, I mean – to be happy. In these times of stress, strain and tension one looks forward to a life of ease, peace and happiness. But most of us put a premium on our own happiness. Most among us feel that money alone would make us happy. Some associate it with a well-paid job or good education or married life. But is it really so?

Happiness is a state of mind and you hold the key to it. Only you can live in misery or substitute it with happiness. It is simply a change in thinking. As simple as seeing the glass half FIILED with water or half EMPTY. It is your own perception that will make you content or unhappy. Follow these simple steps in your daily life and feel a marked change.

Be OPTIMISTIC: Instead of thinking “I am bound to fail” substitute it with “I will succeed. It is just a matter of time.” Success may take its own time or it may not happen. But you have changed your thinking. And with that change in circumstance is just a matter of time. An optimistic person looks towards the future and can adequately guide others too. It makes you content and increases your happiness.

Follow Your DREAMS: Yes, this is very important. Dreams are our reality. They guide us to our destiny. You know that the task you are good at has to be followed. It leads you and you merely follow. When you do what your heart desires is a road to happiness.

Be FINANCIALLY Independent: We work to earn a living. But today’s jobs are tension-filled. The more you desire to earn, the more difficult life becomes. We want luxuries but they come at the cost of our health. So, how much do you need to live comfortably (and not luxuriously). If you could budget yourself, you will find that most of your spending is a waste when you need little to live comfortably. And for that you need not depend on anyone. You can live well in Rs 40,000/year. And you will be very happy too if you put your heart to it.

FAMILY And FRIENDS: These are the people, who enhance your happiness and are your well-wushers. Stay close to them.

JOB: If you have expectation that your job guarantees you peace and happiness, you are well off the mark. At the work place, people from different backgrounds are there and you have to create a space for yourself. Lot of adjustments will have to be made. So, it will not be right to expect happiness in any job. But if it does come, it will be like icing on the cake.

LIVE In Present: Your past may have been sad or bad. Your future may be uncertain. But your present is always with you. So live in it and make it pleasant. Make it your reality.

CHANGE: Change is the only constant in life. Keep moving forward. You will reach somewhere, where you wish to be. Remember, a rolling stone gathers no moss.
SELF CONFIDENCE: Self confidence and self esteem are great blessings. Not everyone is blessed with them. If you have them, you have already stolen a march over others.

CONTENTMENT: If you are content with what you have (and not what you desire) then you know it is second to happiness only. Lead a simple and peaceful life with a laid back and cheerful attitude. Reap its benefits.

Be NICE To Yourself: If you are happy, you will make others happy. The world will be a lot nicer place to live in. Be nice to yourself. It is so easy. Always be in good humour and keep healthy. A feel good factor always works in your favour. Be grateful and count your blessings.

DETACH And Travel Light: Not everything is for you. What may be goof for others may not suit you. So in this world attachment is not the ‘be all end all’. Detach yourself and find its many benefits. You will come to know that not everything is needed. Traveling light always help. Rest is extra baggage and unnecessary.

Shun NEGATIVITY: This can never lead to progress or growth. Change your path away from it. People spreading it are blocking your happiness. Have a positive attitude and lifestyle.

Happiness resides within you. Reach out to it. And rediscover yourself. The best part is following the above mentioned advices are all free. You don’t need to spend anything but you stand to gain a lot. And be a better being too. A happy you is the best you.
