I have to agree. Iran's best chance for progress is joining with Monarchists. They are far more sane than either MKO or Mousavi. Sooner the better.

amirparvizforsecularmonarchy

Irans pro democracy Groups are Coming Around slowly but surely!!

by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on

Why doesn't the west support any iranian prodemocracy leaders.  The
people would flock to them and fight if given a chance. Why support MEK
and represent them as Irans largest opposition group?  Why back mousavi
and khatami's green movement?  Why is the free world of liberal
democracies so in love with Islam for Iran?

Their real agenda is sending Iran backwards and suppressing it's development.

They betray Irans democrats at their peril.  I see Irans democrats slowly coming around
working with other secular groups, in particular the monarchists, once they discover the west only wants to use
them for manipulation purposes and not for Irans progress.

How long will it take for them to learn this?  No one knows for sure, but the sooner the better, because Iran needs all groups available to counter Western domination that brought us Khomeini and kept his followers in place for so long.

Sosan khanoom, mola n. and VPK

Let's first establish monarchy and then we will discuss about these issues. In fact shah in his last T.V appearance mentioned about "some mistakes" that you all brought it up here. We will fix it under shahanshahi system. For example, Mola N. is concerned about distribution of wealth (Gold), sure we will talk about it once monarchy established again or Soosan khanoom doesn;t want to get up when there is Iran soorood. Some people like to get up and some don't. We will talk about it once we re-establish monarchy or VPK is asking to ban on Fatwa law. Sure, that law is production of mind of  lizard eater arab. It has nothing to do with Persians. We will eliminate that law in our monarch constitution. Let's re-build monarchy first.

VPK Jaan I know you share much of my assessments but

by Darius Kadivar on

The Point I am making by quoting Milani is that your arguments on the Shah and Religion joins his in that the Shah's so called mysticism made him delusional about the realities of his time and encouraged superstition and religious belief because he allowed mosques to be built in every corner of the country.

To begin with I am not certain that the figures and far fetched interpretations of Milani are as accurate.

I also mention Milani first because I am reading it right now and also because it is historians like him which are distorting history to fit their own Political Vision: Justifying a Secular Republic for Tomorrows IRan.

Nothing wrong with that except that I don't share that Jomhurykhah interpretation of our history.

To any thesis there is always an Anti Thesis. I don't have the means of Milani financed by the Moggaddam Family to publish a book.

But I think that I have written and addressed nearly ALL the questions you and others have brought up here a Thousand times in my Numerous Blogs and comments over the years.

So to here the same issues come up OVER and OVER Again each time One Positive thing can be said about the Pahlavis is beginning to truly Piss me Off.

Rest Assured Iran won't become a Monarchy. It's OVER !

I will take Shahanshah Aryamehr over your Islamists any day. He was a patriot who loved Iran. Not like your friends who *use* Iran for their sick version of Islam. He knew Iran needed real friends: not a bunch of terrorists.

When Shah was in charge Iran prospered. We got respect all over the world. Iran was safe and Saddam did not dare attack Iran. With your gang Iran became the laughing stock of the world. With only mentally sick terrorist  as allies.

Your mockery of him shows what kind of person you are. With every post you show your contempt for Iranians. I say again: one hair of the Shah even now is worth all the Islamists and Marxists and their offshoots put together ten times over.

Stop Repeating Milani's Crap each and everytime you want to come up with some Anti Pahlavi Stance. It seems this has now become the latest Trend amongst our most educated ANN TELECTUALS to take Milani's assessments for Granted as if his Book on the SHAH has become their New Anti Pahlavi BIBLE:

KING OF KINGS: Mohamed Reza Shah Pahlavi's Tribute to Iran's Past Kings and People (Nowruz 1977)

It Truly Amazes me to read So Much Crap and Generalities OVER AND OVER AGAIN including amongst So Called "Experts" like Milani.

Iran WAS a Muslim Nation since the conquest of IRan. All Iranian monarchs had to take that into account in order to rule the country.

They even at times used religion as a political tool as all their predecessors.

Including Reza Shah himself when it suited him to recall the "divine" nature of his Royal Status:

NOT THE FIRST TIME:Reza Shah breaks off diplomatic ties with France (1938)

All the More that his Qajar Predecessors including many who were ministers could downplay his legitimacy on grounds that he overthrew their dynasty ( which itself had overthrown it's predecessors):

Notice the use of the Farvahar in the following Qajar Stamp:

And references to the Ancient Pre Islamic history:

The Shah like ALL Persian Monarchs New that their Royal Legitimacy needed Religious Endorsement.

We can debate if Khomeini was a moron or not. He was definitely Charismatic. That and having no integrity i.e lying through his teeth. Those allowed him to fool people. Our people were stupid to reject a true democrat like Bakhtiar and accept Khomeini.

Many of us have learned but even now people are charmed by Khomeini version II. I am talking about Reza Aslan. How dumb do we get to be? But there is very good news. I see that his henna has very little color. The posts about him went better than 2/1 against him.

Veiled Prophet of Khorasan

DK Jaan

I am aware of many of the things you say. You and I see mostly eye to eye on the Shah. However facts are there for all to see:

  • Shah did allow building of a lot of mosques and did help fund them.
  • Shah gave Mollahs a free hand; much more than his father did.
  • Shah declared a one party system that basically destroyed most secular non Marxist institutions.

Yes there were a lot of idiot Marxists. I know; some were in my own family. Shah may have countered this by embracing a robust debate. Prove to people how stupid Marxism was. He also should have strictly clamped down on the Mollahs. That picture of Queen Farah in a chador is outright shameful. The Shah was way too tolerant of Mollahs. This is a well know fact my friend. I am not making it up. I wish he had cracked down on them. But he properly worried about Marxists but missed the danger of Mollahs.

Why didn't he execute Khomeini? Why did he allow Shariati to have a position at the university in Mashad? Why did he let Shariati spread his mumbo jumbo around Iran. To corrupt the minds of people charmed by his stupid Ph.D.

Post IR  time Mollahs should be heavily regulated. Most their "schools" closed; maybe one school allowed under very heavy scrutiny of a secular governor. Plus a special licence required. Only a limited number of licenses should be issued with a heavy fee required yearly to keep it valid. Mollahs preaching without a license should be heavily fined and put in jail. Issuing Fatwahs banned under the penalty of jail. This is what Shah should have done. This must be done after the IR is gone.

Yes the Shah gave us the IR by his nadanam kari. I have often praised his good deeds. However he was "khorafati" and really believed the Islam stuff. He basically wrecked all civil institutions with Savak.

All that was left was the Mollahs. In addition by banning Khomeini's writings he kept him safe. If people had read Khomeini's writings they would have known what a moron the guy really was.

Sure the left also had a big hand in this. But the reovlution would not have happened just with them. It took Shah and his mistakes to get there.

So wrong...

by hirre on

Unfortunately the shah became a what we now call a traitor without even knowing what he was doing... During his rule he built the most number of mosques than any other period (for me this is strange when he at the same time praised Cyrus the Great, Zoroaster and so on). These institutes became communication centers for the religious leaders during the revolution. Without these institues the religious fanatics could easily be stopped... The communists were stopped (even though they were more intellectual) because the shah forbade communication from the beginning and inprisoned and killed many of them, something he should have done with the clerics as well. The shah should have continued in his fathers footsteps, trying to remove mini-powers (khan, clerics, militias etc) from the country, unfortunately he helped some of them indirectly...

The shah should either have done this (bloody path) or have become a monarch without power, like the system they have in e.g. Sweden.

The shah basically built his own grave...
