by Samavar on Mon Aug 25, 2008 07:30 AM PDTI wonder how many of you can remember the early Flash Gordon series that were introduced in Iran of early 1960's when the Saabet Pasal TV was launched. Here is a sample episode:

Don't talk about Dr Who please,I used to watch it with my parents, but one night, home alone,I watched it by myself & I was so frightened that I left the TV on & went to our neighbors!!.They show a Dr Who on BBC America, but nothing like the 70's original.
p.s
Found it,lovely site you recommended.it is called " Sunflower" in English too.

Ebi I will look for the name. One good source to find your film and photos and info is imdb.com:

But here is the famous Striptease of Sophia in one of their films together.

really funny. I liked De Sica too.
Samavar.thats really cool I had no idea. I don't remember seeing Dr. Who in Shiraz but had heard of the series and I used to read a british magazine we bought in a book shop on Zand Avenue in Shiraz. It was called LOOK & LEARN and they mentioned DR.WHO and other series in their advertisements.
I LOVE the 70's TV shows they were so creative in those days. Now kids have Paris Hilton Reality shows as Role Models. Its So sad that the kids today don't have the fun we had ...
I loved

Dear Darius
by samavar. (not verified) on Sun Aug 24, 2008 11:38 AM PDTThanks again for your great finds. You said you liked the corny British Sci-Fi's. The most lasting of these silly British Sci-Fi's is, yes you are right: Dr Who! This was aired in Iran before the IRI days and its latest reincarnation featured a half-Iranian half Ghanaian girl, named Fareema Agyeman (//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freema_Agyeman) who played Martha Jones, Dr Who's assitant (//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martha_Jones). Here is the opening to the latest series.
