hooshie jaan at least the files are now available to all
by Darius Kadivar on Mon Jan 04, 2010 02:14 PM PSTSo other historians can always dig into it.
It also will takes years of study and careful scrutiny of these documents to reach a definitive conclusion or at least to a better understanding of that era.
That in itself is a good thing cause much of the claims in books written about the IRanian Revolution notably by western diplomats could never be verified. Now one can at least confront their claims to these documents in order to validate or refute their allegations.
And it seems that the claims that the Shah was a US or British Puppet seem quite wrong in retrospect.
Anyway we will get there ;0)
Thanks for your feedbacks,
DK
Yes Darius jan but ...
by hooshie on Mon Jan 04, 2010 06:25 AM PSTjust by confirming that he contributes to IranDiplomacy site doesn't make him clear of sypmathies with the reformists in the regime. Tafreshi never accepted, nor did he give any evidence to the contrary, that there was a silent majority who were not in favor of the Islamic revolution. His bid is that the revolution was not assisted by the foreign powers and it was purely and genuinely a popular revolution. As a teenager, he couldn't have a true grasp of the revolutionary feelings of the people and as a historian that he claims to be he cannot give any statistics or irrefutable evidence to support his claim.
My (biased) opinion :)
Maybe but he seems quite open minded scholar
by Darius Kadivar on Sun Jan 03, 2010 05:28 PM PSTunlike those people at CASMII.
What he said in the program was quite in favor or the Shah anyhow. If you listen to the program he was asked a question about his contribution to diplomatic magazines from Iran and he said clearly that he did.
As long as one can debate with logical people I don't care what their inner convictions may be. History belongs to everyone and can be debated from all angles.
My humble opinion,
DK
Tafreshi is a CASMII supporter/member
by hooshie on Sun Jan 03, 2010 01:38 PM PSTHe writes for the pro reformist Iraniandiplomacy website (another pro regime and so called reformist site) and he used to work with IRNA. His educattion was reportedly funded by the IRI
Maybe ... but I prefer Harry ;0)
by Darius Kadivar on Sun Jan 03, 2010 07:33 AM PSTBut I think Charles doesn't really care about being or not being king. He got what he wanted Camilia LOL
Gee What an Ugly Choice !
At Least Our Royals Chose Pretty Wives ,,,
Just for not seeing her as Queen Consort I look forward to William's Coronation ! Hope he won't switch for an ugly duckling Queen as future Wife ...
Personally I prefer Harry. He has a "Tyrannical Henry VIII" quality in him which I like because that suits my Totalitarian Nature ... ;0))))
He could even Behead his girlfriends for a Start !!!
LOL
wasn't it revealed recently that charles=out and william is in?
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Sun Jan 03, 2010 07:24 AM PSTI swear I read this. Charles will never be king. Apparently William is the next in line. Did you hear about this? I'm pretty sure the queen mum decided this too! What a sweet mother :)
I actually admire the British even if they were bad to us ...
by Darius Kadivar on Sun Jan 03, 2010 07:20 AM PSTThey managed to maintain their empire in the form of the Commonwealth by cheating everyone into thinking that it was in their interest. LOL
NOW THAT WAS SMART !
They found ways of justifying their Monarchy in an everchanging world by presenting it as flexible and by adapting it to the realities of their times. The Queen allowed her life and family be chased by Paparazzis turn them into Super Stars in the popular imagination for better of for worse.
Something they probably were not in real life.
I think the popularity of the British Monarchy reached it's pinnacle by the Mid 70's but started ebbing with Prince Charles Marriage to Diana amd Went Down Hill since ...
I think that the 21th Century may mark the begining of the End of the British Influence in the world and I am not certain that with Queen Elizabeth's Death, Prince Charles or his son William will be able to draw as much respect as she did during her reign.
If they do then it will prove that the British are Truly Unique ... And that their Monarchy will truly pass the Test of Time.
I wish We Iranians had the Same Wit !
My Guess is by the time the British Monarchy Crumbles, Iran will be Restoring their Monarchy in a Constitutional Form like the British.
Now THAT would be funny if Iran Restored it's Monarchy just when the British declare a REpublic !
Hee Hee ...
For that many billions, most people wouldn't give asylum
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Sun Jan 03, 2010 06:41 AM PSTThe English are selfish and greedy. They supported the new regime to maintain billions in defense contracts. They also wanted to secure 20,000 jobs I think were related to those contracts. What a united kingdom indeed. You don't know whether to hate these people or admire them. Even the Americans don't treat their people with that much respect.
