What an amazing country and people. The great Iranians have accomplished another proud moment in our history:

Iran's Kavoshgar I lifts off for space
Mon, 04 Feb 2008 12:25:21

Iran has launched a domestic sounding rocket into space simultaneously with the inauguration of its first domestic satellite complex.

The rocket, dubbed Kavoshgar I, was sent off to space from the launch pad on an official order from the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who attended the opening ceremony of the complex.

The suborbital research rocket took off at Iran's space launch base, which is specifically built for sending Iranian rockets into outer space from inside the country.

A sounding rocket is an instrument-carrying rocket designed to take measurements and perform scientific experiments during its suborbital flight.

Kavoshgar I was launched as a preliminary step towards sending the 'Omid Satellite' into orbit. Omid is the first advanced scientific research satellite exclusively designed and made by Iranian scientists.

Issuing his command for launch in the name of God, President Ahmadinejad expressed hope this would be a leap forward in Iran's advancement as well as spiritual growth.

Iran, which aims to launch five satellites into orbit by 2010, joined the international space-faring community in February 2007 after successfully testing its first sounding rocket.

Re: Lost identity

by jamshid on

I wish you would take your premise one step further. You talk about the people of Iran's accomplishments and how that should be separated from the government.

The point you are not considering is that the government, the IRI, is holding the people's accomplishments back. All the brains who have left Iran are "people of Iran" too. The IRI has created an envrionment that most educated people want to leave, and the majority succeed.

Think of how much more the Iranian people would have accomplished if the hundreds of thousands of highly educated and intelligent, hard working and successful Iranians living abroad could instead live in Iran and contribute to Iran's progress. I have no doubt that Iran would be more advanced than South Korea by leaps and bounds. We were ahead of them before the revolution, in every department.

I am proud of Iranians' achivements anywhere in the world. But not fake ones with no substance and made up just for propoganda and military muscling.

Re; jamshid, you have very sketchy info....

by LostIdentity (not verified) on

High orbit satellites usually worth about $400-450M. This was a low orbit satellite. It should cost much less around $50-100M.
I have hard time understanding why you downplay the importance of Iranian people touching on new ways and technologies. Forget about government; Try to admire the people, even if they take a "SMALL" step as you portray it to be. Your mindset is that Iranians inside are like our old generation in Shah era. You need to understand that they have come a LONG way by far. If you do not believe me, try to visit some factories and professionals in Iran; They will outpace you (or comparabale professionals from abroad) in knowledge and know hows. The momentum is there. AND, it's UNFAIR to compare a deeloping nation technology to superpowers. Try to be fair. You don't have to give credit to IRI. Credit is for Iranian people.

The question is whether you believe that Iran without any outside help can continue producing/enhancing this tech?

Re: Xerxers

Do you even know what montage means? It means that many of the components used in the rocket MUST be manufactured in Russia. No Russian "ejaazeh", no rockets.

This is an Iranian tech

by XerXes (not verified) on

Would you call any car manufacturers who makes a car based on the original idea? What kind of logic is that? No one needs to re invent the wheel. The fact that you can montage the tech is good enough. Be it Russian or North Korean, does not bring the value down, unlike what you think. If they can manufacture F14 based on the same F14 American tech, so be it. The knowledge of scientific know how is the key, regardless of where it's originally from. Can Iran without any help produce hundreds of thousands of these? The answer is yes. I don't understand the argument. Also, no one says that Iran can't do better, but the point is Iran being so demonized and under funded economically (0.03% of Saudi defense budget) has been accomplish great tasks. I am proud of my Iranians patriots and brothers. You can criticize this discovery (and all others), but I see this as the continuing sparks of greatness in our technological path.

Amazing Technology Developed by ISLAMIC REPUBLIC of iran

by Fariborz Maleknazri, OBGYN (not verified) on

I think the happening illustrates in a good manner what the honorable Iranian nation has achieved during the last 30 years. The first ten days in february as every body knowes are the celebrating days of the unprecedented victorious Revolution sending 2500 years of corrupt regimes of PERSIS SHAHS for ever to the cemetry of the History. However to iranian nation count - up to my opinion - only the ones who have founded thier ISLAMIC REPUBLIC of IRAN, are living there and are willing to protect and continue to develope what they have achieved.

The latest reports indicate that Iran's Kavoshgar-I lifted off for space carrying a capsule with a passenger. The capsule and the passenger have successfully reached orbit, causing admiration across international and scientific community. The capsule included the Omid (Hope) Satellite and the passenger was a Khar-Magas (a king fly whose name has been changed to khomeini fly ever since the toppling of the PERSIS king (shah)). The passenger has been viewed to be alive and well by the high resolution radar built by the ISLAMIC republic of iran.

Prior to lift-off, the honorable leader of the ISLAMIC REPUBLIC of IRAN, in cooperation with the absent 12th Emam (AATF), performed the necessary prayers to guard the rocket, the satellite, and the fly, against salty eyes of our enemies. All the reports indicate that all those prayers have been most effective and have saved the fly from certain death during lift-off accellaration.

The khomeini fly was resulted when cloning was attempted using DNA from beard of AYATOLLAH KHALKHALI, found in the middle of his personal belongings, in an advanced biotech farm inside ISLAMIC REPUBLIC of iran. The honorable scientists, however were puzzled when the cloned AYATOLLAH KHALKHALI turned up as a khomeini fly rather than a flying pig. So, it is amazing that so many ISLAMIC REPUBLIC technologies have come together to make it possible to have a clone of the honorable AYATOLLAH KHALKHALI orbit the earth and even witness the activities of the greater and lesser satans.
Greeting.

This is amazing. Buying

by kj (not verified) on

This is amazing. Buying pre-built Russian technology and call it Iranian-made. It is a tragedy that Iran needs to resort to this sort of plagarizing other's technology to feel important. It's like buying a BMW while you don't have money to eat...I

The rocket was a montage of

by jamshid on

The rocket was a montage of old Russian and North Korean technology. If you could even say that it was a montage. The Russians almost delivered the major components "pre-built." The rocket did not even make orbit. But the IRI and IranNegah.com, one of IRI's fronts, are trying to milk as much PR from it as possbile.

We could have had far more advances in that area, had the IRI not existed. It's like a child learning to walk at age 5 WITH A WALKER, and then the parents throw a party to show off their child's "accomplishment". It's pathetic.

$500 million dollars just for sling shooting an object into the air? With the same funding, a few junior MIT students could have done better, and at least taken the rocket into orbit.

The IRI was and still is pathetic, both before and after the launch of the Russian made rocket.

Stop feeding people BULLSHIT

by Fair (not verified) on

Yo Faribors MD (and other loud people): What radar evading jet has Iran built? What do you have to show besides the false claim by Islamic Republic's Air Force Commander??

Before this (and you) liar claim "generation 5" of fighter jets, maybe you can show "generation 1"?

All Iran has done has reconditioned the F-5, which is in service in Iran since 1960's already, and is obsolete already for over 20 years, and for which Iran always had full overhaul capability anyway, thanks to the same regime which you FALSELY claim would import 100% of its food until 1978 (show us statistics).

Furthermore, this Kavoshgar is obviously a Shahab 3, which itself is a North Korean copy of a 50 year old Soviet rocket with no accuracy whatsoever. If this were a real launch of a real rocket into space, they should be able to give us details such as the altitude and orbit achieved, etc., we should be able to see high altitude video of the rocket from a chase plane, etc., and we should be able to see some sort of mission control with people actually paying attention to telemetry and communications from the rocket, instead of some guy on TV saying God is Great for a few seconds and never seeing anything about this rocket again.

So before you actually have some information for us, STOP FEEDING PEOPLE BULLSHIT AND STOP CONGRATULATING YOURSELF FOR NOTHING. The more you do crap like this, the more people take what you say as a joke.

Be Fair.

REPLY : ISLAMIST? NO GOOD!

I´m told islamist is the one who missuses islamic teachings for unislamic purposes. So the honorable Iranian nation isolated all these individuals, separated itself from them. No islamist has any thing to do withe most new story of the achievements of the iranian nation. being happy about that nation is nearly one of the important and unnegligible rights of any human being. so are many commentatores happy with and about that successfull nation. another achievement is described in the following. Iran's Defense Minister, Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar
Iran's Defense Minister, Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar says the country's first home-made satellite will be launched in the coming spring.

Launching the Omid (Hope) Satellite is part of Tehran's three-phase space program, the minister said Monday, at the inauguration of Iran's first ground station and the satellite launch pad.

Najjar also noted that in the second phase of the program -through 2010 to 2013- Iran will manufacture two 'communications and research' satellites, a 'Remote Telemetry Station'.

Iran also plans to build a satellite in collaboration with Islamic countries, which will be called 'Besharat', Najjar added.

REPLY : THE TECHNOLOGY WAS IMPORTED.........

by Faribors Maleknasri M.D. (not verified) on

.........pomegranates, garnets, dates, pistacious and and and ......were exported. Peacefull technology is bought in exchange. However no body can seriously claim all the technic is imported. Iran had to import 90% foodsupply and 100% medicin supply up to 1978. since then has the self sufficiency compaign begann an is to 100% successfull. Iran is today a food and a medicin and medicin technology exporteur. The United states of america took the german scientists as hostages and forced them to research atomic bombs and did not wait even one minute to probe them as soon as the were "ready".
Iran builds new radar-evading jets just by its own. No import no export nothing. All by themself. However as media says if some Iran and Islam friendly countries ask for help iran would help. Now please acknowledge:
Mon, 04 Feb 2008 15:02:49
Iran's Air Force Commander Brigadier General Ahmad Miqani
Iran has started production of the new generation of fighter jets equipped with radar-evading systems, a senior military official says.

Iran's Air Force Commander Brigadier General Ahmad Miqani, said Iran has completed designing the generation 5 of the fighter jets and the production work is in early stages now.

Iran is now self-sufficient in manufacturing air defense and radar systems required for its defense, he added.

Iran has successfully designed, produced and test-flied the domestically-built fighter jet, Azarakhsh (Lightning) and its new generation, the single-seater fighter jet, Saeqeh (Thunderbolt).

Iran is fully prepared to defend its soil and airspace, Miqani said, adding, "Anyone dreaming of invading Iran can be sure of receiving a crushing response from the country's armed forces." Greeting

Iran launches 1st satellite complex
Mon, 04 Feb 2008 10:55:29
Iran's first domestic aerospace and satellite complex has been inaugurated in a ceremony attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

President Ahmadinejad, who was accompanied by Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Mohammad Najjar, inaugurated the ground station and the satellite launch pad.

The ceremony was held in Iran Electronics Industries Co. (Sa-Iran).

In an address to the ceremony, Ahmadinejad pronounced the presence of Iran in space as a necessity, describing the country's first steps in this path as strong, precise and wise.

The chief executive said the experiences gained by Iran belong to all humanity for the Iranian nation fosters intentions and causes that are divine.

The most important tool in the hands of global hegemony is humiliation of nations through instilling a sense of 'incapability' in them, Ahmadinejad observed.

"All the achievements of the Islamic Revolution are embedded in self-belief and revival of human
identity, and this is what the prophets of all divine faiths sought," he stated.

The 'Omid Satellite' is an advanced scientific research satellite which was exclusively designed and made by Iranian scientists.

The project took 10 years for Iranian experts to accomplish and the satellite itself is designed to function in a low earth orbit system.

In February 2007, Iran joined the international space-faring community when it successfully tested a rocket that went into space as part of its drive to launch five satellites into orbit by 2010.

by Javadagha (not verified) on

Thanks for the reminder Sattar jaan. I remember some of the things which you mentioned. God Bless Professor Hashtroudi.

Iran had it tough during the West or World supported War with Iraq (the so call Iran – Iraq war). Iran realized no one was going to help it, the brain drain continued because of negative publicity and making heaven out of Western countries. Some of those heavens are going through hell in a hand basket now. The West is in recession and foreclosed properties are the highest in cities such as Stockton (60%) in the U.S.

Western countries, through their globalization crap have controlled many developing countries, and thank god, the sanctions cut their hands from Iran.

Against all odds, wars, sanctions, opposition groups, Iranians inside of Iran have achieved a great deal. THANKS to our Men and Women who have made us to be a proud nation. With their hands they fought Iraqi’s who were armed to their teeth’s by the global companies.

Regardless of how much Iran has tried to work out issues with the Western countries, they have ignored our plea.

Iranians will stand on their feet against all the negative crap in the news. Once again, proud people have proved that Saadi, Ferdousi, and many others were not fluke. Iran can and has produced some of the best people in the world.

Some historical perspective...

by Sattar (not verified) on

This started during shah's regime.

The first communication satellite was obtained by shah's regime in early 70's.

Tehran's observatory was set up during shah's regime.

The first space club, investigating various rocket fuels and translating related documents began working in mid 70's.

First rockets and telescopes were purchased and assembled and tested in mid 70's by the space club.

Their publication was called Faza with cooperation from academics and university students, specifically the late Professor Hashtroudi.

All of this were aborted by the revolution.
