During the Shah, this would've been one of the greatest social wish:
Iran exporting 280,000 tons of wheat
Iran's deputy commerce minister announced here on Saturday that an LC was opened for export of 280,000 tons of wheat.
Talking to MNA, Majid Parsania added that 170,000 tons of the figure has been so far exported and the remaining amount will be transported to the target countries within next two months.
Pointing to Oman and Kenya as two target markets, he said the product is exported to Oman in four stages in the upcoming months.
He noted that the figure is related to the state export as the private sector also exports the product, predicting totally 840,000 tons of wheat has been exported by the sector

Exporting Turks, Importing Donkeys
by Shahbanoo Masoud Rajavi (not verified) on Mon Dec 24, 2007 09:55 AM PSTThis export story reminds me that at Reza Shah's time, Iran agreed with Turkey to export Iranians from Azerbajan to Turkey and in return to import "olaghs" (donkeys). Apparently that went on for along time. Anyone knows the exact numbers?

by almo5000 on Sun Dec 23, 2007 06:08 PM PSTHere is my take:
An Eslami Guy: In the name of Allah, we can do even better.
A Shahi Guy: These were produced by Shahnhah III, the great aryagoooooz.
An MKO Guy: They are exporting terror in those ships that carry the wheat for export.
An Israeli Guy: World should boycut them so that they die of hunger since they exported all of their wheats.
US Guy: We need to investigate and if true we should put more sanctions on iranians. Why do they have knowledge of growing and exporting wheat?
Myslef: Enjoy this of all times. It is the best of the times, since iran's enemies are gradually dying away. There will be a day soon that Iran will be back at its glorious times again.

Iran to tender construction of 19 nuclear power plants
Tehran, Dec 23, IRNA
Iran-Plants-Tender
Iran will soon announce international tender for construction of 19 new 1,000-megawatt nuclear power plants, Rapporteur of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Kazem Jalali, said on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters, the MP said that the measure would be taken in line with a Majlis approval for generating 20,000 megawatt of electricity to meet domestic demands.
Jalali expressed hope that Iran would soon find access to nuclear electricity by putting into operation the new nuclear power plants.
And stil something about which I am very happy: In just only 3 Monthes will iranian electrical power be available in Turky. Hurra. And condolenze has said North Korea and Iran must not be enemies for ever! Greeting
don't forget
by what a joke (not verified) on Sun Dec 23, 2007 09:26 AM PSTSame amount by volume has also been imported, do you know what? OPIUM from Afghanistan! Congratulations....
congratulations to ALL Iranians
by . (not verified) on Sun Dec 23, 2007 08:44 AM PSTThis is good news, and given the smarts of Iranian (and our lazyness, of course) we can do even better in the future. We now have nuke enrichment (home made -- most of it), we have the intelligence to hunt US and Israeli agents in Iran, we have become self sufficent in many food stuff and produce most of them domestically, we produce rockets that you would need as deterent against saddam-like barbarians, and we have NO BOSS to tell us what to do and what not to do. This is on the RIGHT track and good direction.
Just to be fair: Congrats to

Congrats to hard working farmers.
Here is what happens next:
An eslami Guy: This is because of Islam
A shahi guy: They are lied they did not export
An MKO guy: We could have done better. Their wheat is not good. We could have wheat for the world
Samad Agha: Agha shoma agar irani hastid bayad khoshhal shavid ba in khabar agar agha naneh shoma nokare khareji pas chera beh is site miaayid. boro ta angosht nakardam tooye cheshmet
You guys are looking another way
by XerXes (not verified) on Sun Dec 23, 2007 06:46 AM PSTNot to admire the goods that has happened to our nation is as bad as not to recognize the wrongs that is happening. If something is bad doesn't mean that everything about it is bad, just like Shah. So be proud and remember that this is not only IRI but the hard working Iranians who have sacrifice a lot to make our country completely self sufficient. Not to recognize that and make excuses and say that this is not good enough, just not acceptable nationalistically, think about it. And by the way, name one country that doesn't export prostitute to UAE? That is not exclusive to IRI... Be real.
Oh Yeh !!?
by masoudA on Sun Dec 23, 2007 06:45 AM PSTDid we do it by increasing production - or cutting demand !!!!!!
did you know the reaquired quantity of wheat flour in bread in Iran was cut to half ? Yeps we managed to reduce our wheat import needs by eating bread with less flour.
Bad news!
by Ben Madadi on Sun Dec 23, 2007 05:39 AM PSTExporting wheat is a bad news for Iran because the prices have gone up all around the world but Iranian prices are subsidised by the same crude oil money that Iran has received from the West. So the subsidy oil money should have gone somwhere else where it is best used, not to use Iran's arid land for the production of wheat to sell it to other countries. As the comment below mentioned Iran has other much more serious problems, especially social ones.
Don't get too excited
by Anonymous0 (not verified) on Sun Dec 23, 2007 02:39 AM PSTThanks to be to the glorious ever Islamic system the export items have increased by leaps and bounds. Islamic Iran now is a net exporter of its early teen little girls to the Persian Gulf states as sex workers. It is also currently exporting, involuntarily, around 150,000+ university graduates per annum. The list of its achievement is much longer than exportation of highly subsidized wheat which in itself is the result of last years increased rainfall for the majority of wheat fields are still without any irrigation system whatsoever ala 2000BC.
