by skatermom (not verified) on Mon Apr 21, 2008 08:03 PM PDTI went to the link of the new serudeh ey Iran by Yare Dabestani. That was terrible. I got whip lash after the first 20 seconds. My 10 year old with a super 8, high on captain crunch would have done a better job. It reminded me of those horrible Iranian low budget videos on the Iranian channel. Thanks any way though I hope I didn't offend any body.
All politics aside
by IRANdokht on Mon Apr 21, 2008 02:10 PM PDTthis is a group of Iranian artists, singing our best national/patriotic song, beautifully.
It brought tears to my eyes

by Anonymous1 (not verified) on Sun Apr 20, 2008 11:54 AM PDTThis song is being hijacked by the IRI republic. This song has nothing to do with Islamic rebpuclic and Islam...What a disgrace..

Soul stirring, no matter how I stay to IRI....
by Faribors Maleknasri M.D. (not verified) on Sun Apr 20, 2008 09:45 AM PDTNIce dances and songs. A being with a milde-healthy opinion enjoys the Performance. it enoughs that she/he does not hate Today-Iran and Iranians. Propaganda work? the question is: DOES ANY BODY KNOWES A COUNTRY where Arts are not at the disposal of national interests? Can any body expect that Arts in today-Iran work in the interesst of strangers? foreigners? enemies? As it was the case up to 1978? Example: A man named PAHLEBOD was the Minister of Cultures and brother in Law of his majesty, husband of Princess shamss. HE bought from Ministery budget Picasso paintings as model for Iranian carpets waved in the workshops of the Ministery. Was that Iranian art? Iranian Culture? Nobody knowes what happend to the paintings and to the carpets and no dog barked about the paintings and no swine grunted after the carpets. BRAVO!!!Very nice says she/he who stil possesses the ability to enjoy, no matter what, if it is only nice and the Person is not psychologically truncated. Very nicely looks like funeral and it sounds also in fact like funeral . I am not only 100 but even 1000 per cent of the same opinion. It is the funeral ceremon of the allready dead little tiny Satan who WAS up to 1978 the greate satan. Since then it begann to get infirm, you know? old and infirm. The reason was: It could not rub the wealth, the indipendency, the personal honour of Iranians any more. so it layed long in his death bed, snapping for air. Now it is dead. We can watch its burrying ceremon. So I add most politely: IT does not look like a funeral only, It is one. Greeting
That was absolutely
by skatermom (not verified) on Sun Apr 20, 2008 09:25 AM PDTThat was absolutely brilliant! I cry every time I hear that anthem. It was also directed and edited beautifully. I've heard many anthems over the years. Perhaps I'm biased. However, I still think the Iranian national anthem is still the hippest and most melodic. It's transcended the years. It never sounds outdated and this piece was incredibly moving.
Sorry Folks But ... ;0)
by Darius Kadivar on Sun Apr 20, 2008 09:06 AM PDTI Still Prefer this one ;0)

Sorry Folks but this one still was prevailing before the Revolution. You may Love it of Hate it but "Ey Iran" however respectful was never an Official national antheme not even after the Revolution. It simply became trendy because it suited all Iranian Patriots including Monarchists so as to avoid the use of the word "Shah". Even Reza Pahlavi uses "Ey Iran" before his speaches so as not to offend people but its all a collective hypocrisy like those who claim ( although they are less and less these days) that "The Sun and Lion Flag" should actually be only with the Three colours and no Sun& Lion.
Oh and Full Version :

The Best is to do like the British who have the Union Jack ( Not sure of the exact title) and the God Save the Queen which they sing on different Occasions.
If you think I am biased on this Point ? You are Right. ;0)
When was a National Antheme in ANY country anything but propaganda after all ? ...
Its a political correct song that a society accepts in order to avoid breaking up or be divided. Whether you are a Monarchy or a Republic the National Antheme is something you end up by considering as an ode to your country, history and identity.
Personally I prefer listening to Rock & Roll or the Beatles but well you don't choose your country of birth of Heritage do you ?
LOL

Propaganda work
by Jahanshah Rashidian on Sun Apr 20, 2008 04:29 AM PDTThe song is older than the IRI. Because of its patriotic content, the song was banned after the IRI launched its Cultural Revolution which is in fact a project of Islamo-arabisation of Iran. However, it was sometimes tolerated and sometimes abused by the regime to forge nationalistic atmosphere during the Iran-Iraq war.
This new video clip with women in Islamic hijab, scenes of war and catastrophes caused by the IRI, strict gender separation… shows the plight of our people who deeply suffer from the same regime. If the song is another planned demagogy of the IRI for a new war or state agenda, or it is the work of those self censured "artists", I do not speculate.
When the IRI by abusing a patriotic song, casts artists as Islamists, producing pieces whose function is to transmit political and religious messages and raise the consciousness of their audiences, then, let us call them "propaganda works", which have been under any totalitarian regim.
BRAVO!!!
by Anonymous-one (not verified) on Sat Apr 19, 2008 10:33 PM PDTI loved the clip! These are the people who are fighting the system from within.
We're sitting it out and they have changed the atmosphere of the country and resisted the strict rules. We have no right to bash them!
25 years ago this anthem was alnost outlawed.
Men and women couldn't even sit in one car if they were not "mahram". Women were not allowed to sing, nevermind go on a stage. Dancing was outlawed in public places or public view and now there are a group of kurdish dancers on the stage!
These are the ones who stopped those strict laws and fought the system. What have we done for the country? Mr Samsam you hate the regime so much that you can't see the positive aspects of this video? They are speaking of Iran, what's so "gand" about that?
Lets not allow the hate to spread where it shouldn't, these ladies and gentlemen on that stage are your hamvatans, and they're singing about your vatan!
Very nice
