People! Abandon i.com! It will close soon!

I had noticed that i.com has been acting like no one cares any more and it looks like a shop that is about to close.  Anyway, apparently there is iroon.com and JJJ has opened it and not bothered to tell us!  Oh well.  I just found out about it and the good person that I am I wanted to tell you all to move in and ruin the neighborhood!

I have not had a chance to peruse the other i.com yet but I have a feeling this one will close shop and become part of iranianpersonals or radiojavan in January!  All good things come to an end and I suppose i.com is no exception!

People!  People!  Abandon ship!  Abandon ship!

Dear Mr. Amin, I am not sure if a blog is someone's

by Mehrban on

home and even if it is someone's home it is a home whose door has been opened to the public.

What does it mean if someone is interested in presenting their ideas to the public but not interested in hearing opposing views?    How can you stop your site from becoming a propaganda scene, or a hollow self aggrandizing venue without any challenge (checks and balances) from other readers/bloggers?

Shutting out opposing views is what we (Iranians) are very good at and needless to say it is the root of many of the ills in our society.  At IC we have learned that it would not kill us to hear something that we don't agree with and in time we each have developed ways of dealing with it in a way that has not required killing (deleting) each other.

Thanks Mehrban. I am of the opinion that if you create content, it is your right to determine what is, or is not appropriate on your blog. After all, it is "your virtual home". With that said, if a content creator removes a comment, the void created from this action will be publically attributed to the author of the blog. I reckon that if someone consistently removes viewpoints that he/she does not agree with, they were a) likely not interested in having an open discourse to begin with and b) users will eventually stop interacting and viewing their content.

I will discuss this and much more late next week.

Mr. Amin

by Mehrban on

Why should the content creators be able to delete comments where is the freedom of speech what about opposing views that would refute an idea?  What about discussions?  Please don't let blogs become a love fest between Yes wo/men.  And also a place to propagate false premises.    Thank you :)

Yes Esfand, content creators will indeed be given the ability to moderate comments. This functionality is long overdue.

Bah bah! Mr. Amin! Long time no see!

by Esfand Aashena on

So what's up?!  Will we be given comment control or not?  I'll look forward to reading more information next week, just please don't take us for fools and say it'll be more "robust" as those are buzz words for nothing!

If you're thinking of using those kind of words, please remember to study these two blogs so we're not taken for a ride again!

By "old format" I didn't mean the format without comments.

by Esfand Aashena on

I mean about 2 or 3 years ago where people would comment and engage and the most viewed was a lot more than today's 1000 - 2000.  There were a lot of debates about JJJ allowing anti-everything people to come here and take over and now that they have, JJJ abandoned ship!

He promised changes but once he realized he could make a new site with the changes we suggested and he contemplated and promised, he sold his shares and Mr. Amin was left out with his pond!

Anyway, we used to say i.com is the most interesting Iranian website, like we say USA is the worlds best and strongest superpower.  Now there are a lot more Iranian websites with more readership but many of us who still end up going to the same belog or article and comment and run the meter to 1500 to make it the "most viewed", are still stuck here!

This may be our salvation after all!  Free at last!  Free at last!  Thank god almighty I'm free (lost) at last!

I loved the old format that was "The Iranian". It was really classy and I would have been proud to recommend it to my non Iranian friends.

The interview was not even belogged!

by Esfand Aashena on

I knew it was coming but missed that "News Item"!  In any event, I have credible sources who are telling me that i.com will shut down as soon as JJJ leaves i.com's attash to laghash probably in Jan 2013 timeframe!

We will all end up like yateems  and unemployed going from website to website looking for "jobs" to find solace and spend our time!  My eyes does not drink any water that iroon.com is going to be like the old i.com who had a lot more readership and interest than today!

The belogs are worthless!

by Esfand Aashena on

Look a while ago there was a website called DCPersian.com and if you click on it it says it is now radiojavan.com and shows a few more website names that are for sale!

I suspect the same thing will happen in Jan 2013 when you click on i.com it'll say it's radiojavan or iranianpersonals and i.com name is for sale!  Who has the patience to sit here and go through all the crap that goes on around here!  I bet you Mr. Amin doesn't even read this site much less change the "format"!

JJJ is moonlighting right now and having two "jobs" and saving some money!  His new website is not easy on the eye and looks like it's best viewed with firefox and MS Explorer is sucks, anyway, as I said all good things come to an end so don't worry be happy!

Just got word from a rather credible source that mr. azali is on his way to tehran to conduct serious talks and possibly take over the leadership.

It is all over the news, poeple in tehran can not stop talking about it while standing in lines in their local barbari shops!

"if I ever get a chance to post something there" ... lol

Me too. But look at this - IC needs something along these lines (from Iroon.com)

General Rules

Comments and contributions that promote hate, contain threats to individuals and groups, racist remarks, direct and indirect attacks including swear words and insults against site users, and attempt to derail discussions and/or push other users into emotional reactions, and publishing personal information about other users is not allowed on Iroon.com. ...

But I wouldn't abandon this site and Mr Amin, I would join both. Lets see what he says.
