One summer, I went to study French in Chicoutimi, a small town on the Saguenay River in Quebec, Canada. Darius' contribution to the Writing Young Love series inspired me to submit mine (English translation follows).
Je suis allée au bord
De la rivière Saguenay
Et j'ai regardé longtemps là-dedans
En revenant en ville
Ma poitrine s'est mis
A me faire mal - mon coeur n'était plus là!
* * *
I went to the bank
Of the Saguenay River
And looked into it for a while
Coming back into town
My chest started to ache -
My heart wasn't there any more!
I returned to the bank
Of the Saguenay River
And looked into it for a while
My heart wasn't on the bottom
Or on the bank
Maybe it floated away
I never found it
Where it got lost
I couldn't tell you even now
In the countryside's beauty
In the people's hospitality
Or in a certain boy's brown eyes ...

Your post cracked me up....I am definitely Non-Hezbollahi (Party of God), I am independent!
thanks,
A tout le monde
by Esther on Wed Nov 04, 2009 04:16 PM PSTYolanda, Quebeqi & ThePope: Yes, there seem to be several of us non-Iranian (non-Hezbollahi ;) lurkers around here!
ID: Merci! Of course, the important thing is not the river, but the memories of young love. :) It often happens that people write about things that I have no knowledge of, either. But we are all human, so we should all be able to find some way to relate!
Je vous bénis!
by Quebeqi on Wed Nov 04, 2009 02:52 PM PSTAinsi soit-il Monsieur LePape!
Et je vous donne l'indulgence plénière et entière. Donc, plus besoin d'aller à la confesse pour expier les p'tits péchés véniels :)
AAAAAmen :)

We already have a non-Iranian fan club here, but UNFORTUNATELY it consists only of hezbollahis!
Mais parcontre, vous Mme Quebeqi,,, c'est un plaisir de vous avoir parmi nous... :-)
khaanoom-e Esther,
thx for the poem.
I really liked it, mostly the french version!
( for some reason I think it should ONLY be read with l'accent du Saguenay-... ;-)
Je ne connais pas cette rivière :-(
by IRANdokht on Wed Nov 04, 2009 01:21 PM PSTmais moi aussi je me souviens des yeux bruns d'un certain garçon à qui j'ai donné mon coeur.
Je l'aimais bien ton poèm!

A Fan club?
by Quebeqi on Wed Nov 04, 2009 01:12 PM PSTWe should create a non-Iranian fan club of Iran on iranian.com :)
Ce serait tellement le fun :)

by yolanda on Wed Nov 04, 2009 10:39 AM PSTThank you, Esther,
I am glad that I am not the only Non-Iranian here. Wow, the Non-Iranian population has just doubled! Yeah!
best wishes!
Merci!
by Esther on Wed Nov 04, 2009 04:17 PM PSTYolanda: As I would have said in the comments to Nazy's submission if I had been in a commenting mood that day, you may not write articles or poetry in Farsi or English (although I am sure you could if you wanted to :), but you always write very nice comments in English. :)
Darius: C'était plutôt les yeux du tigre! ;)

Quebeqi: As I have confessed elsewhere, I am not Iranian, but I have an interest in the country as well as Quebec. Saguenay was beautiful and the people were lovely. I missed Ste-Rose du Nord, but I did get to Tadoussac. And if you are ever in Chicoutimi, it has a great chocolate shop. :)
I love that river!
by Quebeqi on Wed Nov 04, 2009 09:35 AM PSTI can't believe that there are Iranians coming to the regions of Québec to study French and...a little bit of Joual! This is soooo afarin!
How did you like the Saguenay region? Did you stop at Ste-Rose du Nord village on your way to Chicoutimi? This place is so magnificent with its fiords and...its...little shark museum located in that big barn :)
I hope that you also stopped at Tadoussac or Baie-Ste-Catherine for some whale watching and for the free ride on "La Traverse" (ferry boat).
Jolie Temoignage Esther Khanoum ;0)
