by MM on Sat Mar 06, 2010 12:41 PM PSTHere is another piece of news: if you are Irish, every day is St. Pat's day. March 17th is the day every one else can claim to be Irish.
Irish Americans
by Vishtaspa on Sat Mar 06, 2010 12:40 PM PSTJumping over fire in a show of solidarity with Iranians? BS! Half these people don't even know where Iran is..
MM, Irish Are on the Lunar Calendar
by Faramarz on Sat Mar 06, 2010 12:31 PM PSTUnlike the Britts, the Irish are on the lunar calendar which makes Wednesday the official 4-Shanbeh Souri Day for the Irish.
Also, in case you didn't know, the Irish Riverdance is an imitation of the Iranian fire-jumping!
St. Partick's day on Wed. March 17th; day after 4shanbehsouri.

Leaping Leprechaun
by Faramarz on Sat Mar 06, 2010 11:03 AM PSTThanks Darius, Red Wine and Souri for your kind words and expanding the discussion.
I have to tip my hat to you DK. You are a walking Wikipedia of anything that has to do with the pre-revolutionary Iran!
Bobby Sand's imprisonment and hunger strike was quite a big news in Iran and was always in the evening papers Keyhan and Etelaa'at.
Here is how you make the leaping leprechaun for St. Patrick’s Day.
1.0 oz Creme de Cacao
1.0 oz Creme de Menthe
1.5 oz Irish Cream
Pour into a shaker filled with ice, shake, and strain into an old fashioned glass, over ice.

I didn't claim the contrary regarding Bobby Sands ...
by Darius Kadivar on Sat Mar 06, 2010 10:27 AM PSTHe was a hero to the Irish cause. Not my cup of tea but I respect the man's memory for he was not a coward unlike some of the IRA and IRI terrorists placing Bombs and killing innocent people.
In addition the IRI was also a supporter of the IRA during the 1980's by delivering them Arms and vice versa so I really don't see why they would ban Saint Patricks Day any more than Ashura !
That Said I would switch Saint Patrick Day For any Other Islamic Holliday in our SHI'IT Calender.
So Here by I raise My Pint of Beer to the health of the Green Movement and Shout Ya Hussein Mir Hussein in Solidarity and to that of Our Irish Friends !
Bobby Sands was a hero!
by Souri on Sat Mar 06, 2010 09:23 AM PSTI was in France when this happened. As the activist students, we have been supporting him all the time. We went even to the British Embassy to protest.
May his soul rest in peace but his way be always continued. Beautiful Irish music, indeed. I love the Irish music.
Thanks Faramarz jon for the blog.
...
by Red Wine on Sat Mar 06, 2010 08:56 AM PSTSir you did a very good job ... Thank you for it :=) .
What ? And What would Bobby Sands Say on That Rocky Road ? ...
by Darius Kadivar on Sat Mar 06, 2010 08:45 AM PSTAll the More that the IRI was a staunch Supporter of the IRA in the early 80's ... Funny that the IRI can't even keep it's own loyal Allies on it's side anymore :
