A SEPARATION: Congratulations

A DIFFERENT SET OF NOMINATIONS

Congratulations "A Separation" for winning the Oscar! We live in a  world that need not be viewed through a single paradigm and in fact, can be viewed through different paradigms

- Political Freedom:
Ameria fares pretty impressively - pre Citizens United and Super-Pacs that is

- Social Justice:
I'd nominate Norway. Political freedom where 50% live hovering around the poverty line (US) , leaves one wanting more. The Scandinavians do a commendable job of maintaining a balance between their haves and have nots

- Beauty and Culture:
This is where both Italy and Iran blend in effortlessly to shoot to the top. One poignant reason behind Iran producing such strong narratives in its movies is its phenomenally rich literary heritage. Just like design is the Italians' blood, so is story telling in ours - from the original Scheherezad via our stellar poets to our incdredible film makers

Here's to a world where how we "judge" other nations, aquires a broader spectrum from a host of paradigms! Congratulations IRAN

Hafez is drinking here to the promise of freedom after a period of abstention. Here's to the promise of IRAN being less defined via the limiting paradigm of "politics" alone, with a shift to its Beauty and Culture. MOBARAK BAD Mr. Farhadi, all the cast of "A Separation", and the Oscar's Academy. Soosan Khanoum - You're Welcome.

You're in the wrong country then

by Anonymous Observer on

The U.S. apprently ranks lowest of your list of "good" things.  Yet you have chosen to live here. Is it a form of self flagellation for you to reside in a plcae that you consider to be so uncivilized and drab?

Time to move!  Norway perhaps?

Good to see you posting again

Afsaneh jan , I had my own share of being mistreated on this site.  So you are not alone.

Just when everybody had counted Iranians out

a movie from Iran wins an Oscar, what a wonderful occasion it is.

HFB welcome back to IC.

As far as detracters and naysayers are concerned my adice to you is to ignore them and focus on what you want to do and say.

when "silence" isn't golden

by Hafez for Beginners on

rtayebi1: thank you.

Mohammad Ala: thank you, again. Do let's remember "silence" causes  toxic voices to get louder... what's that expression? Bad things happen when good men do nothing... But thank you for your kind words, again.

Mohammad Ala

You were missed.

You are not alone in feeling that way.  IC has lost good contributing members because of thugs who keep attacking real contributors.

You were missed.  Welcome back.  Although I did not comment on your blogs, I followed most of them.

Thanks Mohammad Ala.

I had to "leave" as the site was a little too obsessed with Iran's politics. Like my post mentions, the world has many many different paradigms. And sharing Hafez in a sea of political boxing matches was too hard. Let's see how it goes and thanks for your message.

Hafez for Beginners  I met an IC member who asked about you.  He liked your posts and you had not be around for almost a month.  Welcome back.

Thanks for this blog.
