If that wasn't bad enough -- given that Judge McBride earned his salary by sending others to prison (mostly people of color, the mentally ill, and people of lesser economic means (including children) -- Judge McBride was also later busted for deliberately taking away the due process rights of criminal defendants appearing in his court room. In essence, Judge McBride was fixing cases to promote convictions by taking away important trial rights. It is critical to understand that McBride was elected by his judicial colleagues to be presiding judge after both of these events.
Here is the description of (and link to) the public discipline of Judge McBride by the ethics commission (incidentally what McBride did was also a Federal crime which the U.S. Justice Department did not do anything about - it hardly ever does).
"Judge McBride engaged in the disregard of the due process rights of the parties involved in the cases constituted an abuse of his judicial authority and warrants discipline." California Judicial Ethics Decision. //cjp.ca.gov/res/docs/Public_Admon/McBride_DO_11-18-08.pdf
Keep in mind that even the Ethics Decision is watered-down to show favoritism to McBride (more than 3,000 cases of judicial misconduct get reported in California alone each year, and more than 90% are never heard.)
Ross Mirkarimi's situation is that he is Jewish (which actually probably helps him because there are many Jewish judges). It's no secret that America's prisons are unfairly filled with 'colored-folks' (less affluent minorities: i.e., Blacks, Latinos, etc.), which is a heritage of the system of racial bigotry, segregation, and slavery which has stained most of America's history as a country. And don't get me started about the Native Americans (American Indians) which were killed by the millions so white Europeans could take their tribal land. And for those of you who don't know, Texas, California and other 'American' territories used to be a part of Mexico. The reason I point these facts out, is that America is one of the last countries in the world that should be pontificating about human rights -- its very existence is testament to genocides, massacres and human rights abuses in the tens of millions.
In returning to Mirkarimi's problem, Mirkarimi got singled-out for harsher treatment because he is 'Eye-rey-nian.' ironically the slanderous stereotypes that are being promoted against Iranians in the U.S. are largely coming from Israel (Mirakarimi is Jewish): A thousand examples could be given, but those old enough will remember the Israeli-produced film starring Sally Field titled "Not without my Daughter," which was an insidious character assassination against the Iranian people that depicted Iranians as willing to kidnap American women and mistreat children. Sally Field played the mistreated American bride and Sheila Rosenthal and Roshan Seth co-starred as 'Mahtob Mahmoody' and "Houssein the smuggler," respectively. The film was made in Israel. Lovely.
But the story gets better: The District Attorney that charged Mirkarimi is George Gascón (who was the former San Francisco Police Chief). Gascón has employed the same 'Muslims are evil' hate rhetoric as a part of his official duties:
"George Gascón ... publicly apologized Friday for comments he made a week earlier referring to the susceptibility of the Hall of Justice to a terrorist attack by local Middle Eastern residents (i.e., ordinary Muslims that attended services)." S.F. Gate. //www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/04/02/MNUI1CP0F7.DTL#ixzz1pjFf4unN The San Francisco District Attorneys Office and Police force have also been implicated in thousads (yes, thousands) of acts of professional misconduct. Forty examples with one news story: "San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris' office violated defendants' rights by hiding damaging information." S.F. Gate. //www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/05/20/BAN01DHVMU.DTL#ixzz1pjR1tonS What's the moral of my article? 1. America does not have the cleanest human rights record in the world; it has corrupt politicians and government officials numbering in the thousands, all which is known by the American Justice Department, which does not do anything about it. (Side note: Iranians beware and keep your children safe.) 2. Sites like this one, that unfortunately permit non-stop negative portrayals of Iranians will harm Iranians living abroad in ways that will surface in the future. Iranians are generally peace-loving and hospitable people, but also peoples' attitudes towards Iranians are important. 3. America is far from having its gender politics worked-out and it's clear that many families are made to suffer. Anyone that tries to convince you that America has not been engaging is social experiments with families that have had harmful and unforeseeable consequences, is simply lying. Those of you living abroad will come to learn this over time. 4. Mirkarimi's best option now is to join the Jihad against the West (just kidding about this point). 5. The final moral of the story is that there are Iranians, like myself, who will take anyone to task who unfairly tries to harm Iranians, and this story should put bigots on notice.
I certainly do not have anything against Mirkarimi being Jewish, and I wish him and his family the best. However, I believe his career as a law enforcement officer is toast. Good luck Ross; Happy Norooz and I wish you and your family peace. But just remember what John Lennon said: "Instant Karma is gonna get you."

Laughable that the late shah with his human rights record was lectured and pressed by the USA that gave us guantanemo, abu ghraib, extraordinary rendition etc. and then used human rights to support khomeini & help create the IRI which they love and wish to keep in power because they are so bad for iran. Personal attacks and Accountability
by Mohammad Ala on Wed Mar 21, 2012 10:18 PM PDTVPK, you and I have disagreed, but I have respected your opinion… thanks for your participation and comments.
The first attack on me at IC came in 1998 when someone who did not like my views called my place of employment and complained about me. Although I did not create a profile in Wikipedia, two IC members attacked my profile and kept changing it. Admin and JJ know about them (one used to post by the name of Marmoulak.)
In my personal opinion, someone who would like to remain anonymous but dig into other people’s lives is coward and in some regards a white color criminal….the vicious individuals who resort to intimidation when they do not like someone comments they say… “report them,” “deport them,” question their personal beliefs and/or where they stand.
Through the organizations that I run I have met hundreds of people and my knowledge reflects my discussions with them. The majority of women have married and will marry for money and fame or leaving their country. What people write is good enough for me to depict their identity.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Wed Mar 21, 2012 06:24 PM PDTI was never really gone. My whole point is that I believe Mr. Mirkarimi was badly wronged. However as you see other people have turned this into a circus.
See how people will use everything to voice their pet peeve. Yes IRI is horrible and we all know it. But what does that got to do with Mirkarimi? Most people show little or no knowledge of the facts. Yet they feel perfectly justified to voice their total ignorance. Bashing "Iranian men" or whatever is their thing. It is so typical of IC and the people we got here that it is totally disgusting.

In fact, you may be surprised to see that med school admission boards may have a few America loving Joooooz on them. So, you may want to tone down the online Jew and America hating, especially if you're using your real name--even if you put a fake 'MD' next to it.
Now, I know that Jew hating and America hating may actually help you advance in Iran, but not here. In fact, if you keep up the America and Jew hating blogging, the only place that you'll be practicing mediccine will be Iranian.com. You may, however, be able to become a 'love doctor," or a docctor of mixology.
Tabrik: "Iran has ramped
by vildemose on Wed Mar 21, 2012 03:35 PM PDTTabrik:
"Iran has ramped up its capacity to engage in cyber warfare with the creation of a new Supreme Council of Cyberspace and a 120,000-strong ‘cyber army’ trained by the powerful Revolutionary Guard Corps.
“Iran hasn’t been shy about its bids to monitor, filter and block content on the Internet,” Farnaz Fassihi writes. “Now it has taken the next leap, turning online censorship into an institution …launching what amounts to a centralized command structure for online censorship.”
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called today for respect for human rights and freedom of expression in Iran, in a statement to mark Nowruz, the Persian New Year.
“The people of the United States join you in welcoming the opportunities of this New Year and the possibilities for strengthening ties of family and friends,” she said. “And as we face new challenges, we remain committed to our support for universal human rights and the freedom of expression — rights that promote peace and progress.”
But the IRGC’s PR unit announced that it had recruited 120,000 ”cultural soldiers in the past three years to combat ‘a soft cyber war’ against Iran,” Fassihi notes:
The IRGC’s new network—named Basir, or “Perceptive”—is a domestically built, secure telecommunication channel that will allow its highest-level officers to communicate and command brigades in the case of an attack…These “cybersoldiers” monitor online activity of opposition sites and dissidents, bombarding websites with comments and producing blog content in support of the regime and hacking emails and computers, according to a computer programmer in Iran employed by the telecommunication ministry. They report to various state bodies, including intelligence, judiciary and the IRGC, which in turn have top officials sitting on the new council.

Behrooz: My parents came here to give me and my brother a chance at having a great higher education. It was certainly hard for my parents, who gave up so much to give me and my brother a better chance at education and life. But earlier this year my brother, Ramtin Vaziri, earned his master’s in information technology from NJIT. He has a great job now working as a software developer with Tata Consultancy Services. And I will attend med school. So my parents are happy.
Behrooz was born in Iran, and immigrated to America with his family after his sophomore year in high school. In Iran, he had attended the nation’s top middle and high school. His parents, though, wanted him and his brother to attend an American university. The family settled in Millburn, N.J., which has one of the best high schools in the state.
Behrooz excelled at Milburn High in math and science. His grasp of English was slight, so he took ESL classes during the summer at Seton Hall. He mastered English, graduated with honors and won a scholarship to NJIT’s Honors College. He has an engineer’s mind -- a tinkerer’s intellect, and in his spare time he works on electronics. He has built clocks, radios and programmable robots. Soon, he hopes to tinker with the ultimate organ: the human heart. He aims to be a cardiologist.

Where R UR blogs about the disparate treatment of women in Iran?
by Anonymous Observer on Wed Mar 21, 2012 10:09 AM PDTMr. "ILoveIran" and others who cheer him on? You signed up less than two weeks ago, and so far have written five Jew hating and anti-Israel blogs. This one talks about doemstic violence and tries to absolve Mirkarimi of domestic abuse--something that he has admitted to and apologized for on TV.
So, where are your blogs about how woman are second class citizens in youe "lovely" Iran? Why don't you write about how women have to endure physically and emotionally abusive husbands --and remain in broken and abusive marriages--just so that they don't risk the automatic loss of custody of their children under IR's "laws?" We have one of those in our family, who was beatn and abused for more than a decade, but remained in the marriage because she wanted to be with her two daughters who used to witness her being beaten up by their father.
Why don't you write about the fact that women's testimony in Iran counts half of that as a man's?
Why don't you write about the fact that women can't leave the country without their husband / father's permission?
Not everything is about diveriing from IR's atrocities by talking about Israel, Jews and Gaza.

by Mohammad Ala on Wed Mar 21, 2012 08:36 AM PDTVPK you were missed. Welcome back and Happy Nowruz.
The reasons I posted my comments are similar to VPK. Men have nothing to be shamed of, they have worked hard to provide for their families. If pulling a spouse’s arm is domestic violence, then hitting a man in his crotch or throwing a ceramic plate at his head, is not domestic violence? Many women have stayed home and were not faced with daily stressful work and driving conditions ... placing women in similar situation men have been abused more than women... check court records and ask yourself who live longer (men or women)?
Mr. Mirkarimi will be better off to divorce his wife and start a new life without her. Let her get fame on her own.
