Next gathering in case anyone checks this post
by IRANdokht on Thu Jun 18, 2009 11:07 AM PDTThis Saturday 11 to 1 protest front of federal building
Host: UCLA/USC/UCI
Date:
Saturday, June 20, 2009
Time: 11:00am - 1:00pm
Location: Front of federal building
Street: Wilshire Blvd.
City/Town: Los Angeles, CA
Thanks NPO!
Unfortunately the usual crowd will not respect the people who have organized this meeting and they will show up earlier to wave their flags and try to hijack the demonstrations again.
The good news is that the students' presence will be much stronger than last night and it will feel like a rally in support of the Iranians rather than a Pahlavi/MKO demonstration

Dear Arash_1970
by IRANdokht on Wed Jun 17, 2009 10:34 PM PDTThanks for coming and for your kind words. I saw Sattar, Bahman Mofid, Shahram Shabpareh and my all time favorite Faramarz Assef too. Unfortunately the LA gatherings are not as organized and even civilized as the ones in the Bay area, but I liked the fact that so many people showed up.
Don't worry about the debate club, mostly fans, they're just a little shy ;-)

by NPO (not verified) on Wed Jun 17, 2009 10:33 PM PDTIrandokht, I like your practical thinking here. Unfortunately some people are politically immature, don't understand the process, or worse, want to hijack the Iranian cause now. Whether they like it or not, Mousavi is the opposition leader now, he is not perfect, but everything happens in stages, and this is what we have now. Thankfully those bickering morons don't live in Iran. They are so out of touch. They really live in la-la land. Same goes to some members here.
Thank You
by Arash_1970 on Wed Jun 17, 2009 10:24 PM PDTDear Irandokht
Thank you for posting this information here ,it was a pleasure seeing all our fellow Iranians taking a stand against the violence and fraud in Iran. It was great to see our artists such as Mr Sattar and Assef among the protestors too. Good luck with the "Debate Club" on this site :-)
thank you Taraneh

PS: to my fan/stalker "we" here meant the ones who hear about these gatherings... didn't want you to burst an artery again ;-)
great comments smhb and sbglobe
by IRANdokht on Wed Jun 17, 2009 10:18 PM PDTYou both mentioned and demonstrated the problem with these demonstrations outside Iran especially in So Cal.
Unfortunately there are a few who are trying to fish the muddy waters now and take a free ride at the expense of the Iranian crowds, their unrest and their sacrifice, only to forward their own agenda.
The video on iReport was not about tonight, but it's been the same story at different levels, every time there is a gathering in front of the Federal Building in LA. Tonight wasn't as bad as you see in the video at least not until 8:45 that I witnessed. The arguments about the signs and the flags seem to be never ending. They have even come up with a new sun and lion emblem that is not the same as the Shah's time and calling it the secular flag, insisting that it's the rightful flag of Iran. I was even yelled at a few times by some older ladies only because I was wearing a green shirt! They don't realize that the green is to show support for the ones who are risking their lives in Iran and speaking up against the mounting violence, they were insisting that we should all carry unrelated signs and wave their made-up flags.
Needless to say I am very disappointed and so are the few friends I was with. Instead of unity and support, we proved once again that we do not belong anymore and the country's moved forward and left us all behind, still arguing and accusing each other every chance we get.
This is an Iranian issue and the ones who are denying the last 30 years of Iran and advocating foreign intervention should just realize that they are not considered united with the 70 millions who continue to live in the country and let them deal with the current crisis, if they can't agree to support the cries of freedom and peace, then they should go back and watch their entertaining LA TV stations.
Thanks for your thoughtful comments

Nice try ....
by sbglobe on Wed Jun 17, 2009 07:54 PM PDTBut I wish they could avoid the conflict - as they say timing is everything. This "I-Report" is not a happy clip about the "PEACEFUL CANDLELIGHT VIGIL SILENT PROTEST" :-(. The only reason I am postig it is becasue I hope it remind us that everyting has a time and this was a bed timing for some actions/re-actions :-(

by smhb on Wed Jun 17, 2009 06:09 PM PDTThinking through issues seems to be a very difficult proposition for some of our fellow Iranians. Those who are filled with fiery support of demonstrations in Iran and not really being in tune with the demands of demonstrators but trying to ride a wave for their own peculiar agenda are the same people who advocate foreign intervention in Iran and hope to see major confrontation on the streets of Tehran and various cities hoping for an opportunity for reza pahlavi or rajavi or another useless slave of the empire to jump in and .......
Now back to reality. Some of these people better start letting all of us know where they stood last month with respect to the elections and the popular participation it garnered. In other words if you advocated a boycott of the elections then I suggest you tone it down. Stop being an opportunist.
Did any one of the so called experts of Iran who cant stop screaming from the top of their lungs voted? Or where you amongst some of the bankrupted individuals who were telling everyone not to vote, whatever your twisted rationals.
I for one did vote and I voted for Mr. Mousavi. However, just because I voted for him and admire him and support him that does not mean I am oblivious to certain unpleasant facts and realities that are not being talked about, specially outside of Iran. I am also not oblivious to the fact that Iran is surrounded by the empire and its lackies and honest people of all political tendencies should be vigilant and well informed about those realities too.
So, is everything black and white? Maybe some think it is but I dont think so. Only the simpletons amongst us would make such claim. The realities are a lot more complex than meets the eye. I for one definitely like to read, listen to and study various analysis and reports so I can educate myself and when the time comes make a semi intelligent decision. But I guess some of our fellow Iranian geniouses already know the TRUTH therefore no need to read and contemplate any further, just scream and yell your undying devotion to the people in Iran no matter what your true intentions.
Unlike those political and social science geniouses I actually hope that there is a peaceful settlement and all parties come to an amicable agreement that satisfies the rightful demands being put forth by Mr. Mousavi. I also want to know based on facts and figures and names and etc... not just accusations and conjectures how this charade was pulled off, if in fact there was such a massive vote count fraud and when and if proven to be true those responsible for this act to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
I think the people on both sides of the plitical divide in Iran are citizens of the land and their voices and concerns should be heard and respected and those who instigate violence and baradar koshi are enemies of Iran. Therefore I strongly urge all to refrain from being the atash biare maareke and use all tools available to garner a debate and try to sift through facts to decipher what truly happened. Let the facts lead you to the truth.
I would really like to see those responsible for attacking university dormitories at night and destroying public property and beating students and causing injury and or death identified and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. But I also like to know who actually orders them into action in the middle of the night so they can also be exposed and brought to justice.
Looking at recent history it certainly gives me pause and I see the recent historical facts that the empire orchestrated velvet revolutions in several countries and brought to power individuals and power structures that serve its interests. I for one do not want to see a velvet revolution in Iran, instigated, orchestrated and stage managed by the empire and its lackies. That does not mean to imply that Mr. Mousavi, Khatami, Karoubi, Rezaie, Abtahi, Armin, Nabavi and dozens of others are agents of the empire but I am mindful of them falling into a trap that they are unable to recover from. This by no means indicates that they should not pursue their rightful demands but rather we who are outside of teh country should also understand what those demands are and be supportive of those demands only and dont be kase daghtar az ash and put forth issues and demands that are not in tune with the realities in Iran and attribute taht to the opposition in Iran. In our words get a hold of your personal wishes and truely support those in Iran who seek peaceful change and reform.
In the meantime you monarchists and pro pahlavi geniouses go suck on an egg and think about your former masters thievery and brutality.

People disrespect you and your hypocricy. This is not limited to Saturday or now or this blog or that. You have been exposed too many times, that's all. switch to another id for a while, maybe things will blow over, or continue writing anonymously (wink wink). that might help.you are exposed and overexposed. that's all.In the meantime Arie Siletz will soon figure you out too. Jaleho is still your best bet.

by IRANdokht on Wed Jun 17, 2009 03:02 PM PDTUnfortunately keeping an open mind and expressing doubt due to lack of information is considered a weakness in our culture and as you might have noticed, I've been bombarded by harsh criticism.
Hopefully some day people will show less "gheyrat kharaki" and keep an open mind in all aspects of their lives.
in the meanwhile, thank you for the encouraging note. It means a lot.

All power to you!
by Mazdak (not verified) on Wed Jun 17, 2009 02:26 PM PDTHindsight is 20/20. Your original blog was just fine. There were no allegations of fraud by the opposition at the time. They hadn't opened fire with live ammo on the crowd. Mind you, having lived through 30th Khordad of 1360 (when most of the Green leaders were on the other side) I've never had any illusion about the nature of Hezbollah, regardless of how benevolent AN may have been towards the poor. Brutality is brutality, no matter who the perpetrators are. Are you listening Jaleho??
Hypocrite

by IRANdokht on Wed Jun 17, 2009 12:09 PM PDTI wrote the blog on saturday morning. A lot of things have happened since that have convinced me and many others that even if there was no fraud in counting the vote which also proves to be doubtful, the way the protesters are being treated since is brutal and criminal.
In solidarity with the Iranians, and the victims of brutality in Iran, WE a number of people who live in Southern California have contacted each other and we'll be at the Federal building this evening.
People who do not change their mind about their convinctions are not just ignorant, they're stubborn and thick headed. Try to keep an open mind and make your mind up after you learn the facts not before hand.
A lot of people jump on an issue one-sided without much knowledge of it and they hold on their thoughts even after the truth and the facts are revealed. Try not to be that way ;-)
Thank you
