The messed up situation seems to be everybody's fault except for the current administration. Even San Francisco's fault! huh?

Peace!

This is impressively beautiful: Sedaa yeh paa yeh aab
Thank you all
by IRANdokht on Sun Sep 07, 2008 03:14 PM PDTThank you all my friends for speaking up and sharing the important messages we should all hear.
Dear Mr Pishroo, you said I am human, well all I can say is: Guilty as charged! I hurt when I see devastation, I feel other people's pain, inequality frustrates me, injustice outrages me and as you see by the contributions just on this very blog, I am not alone. Being anti-war and pro-human rights should be everyone's priority, we should all be human first! and as far as I am concerned, to vote for the ones who have proven to be greedy warmongering criminals, is just not acceptable. I don't see my views as sentimental trash, nor the pro-peace politics as political nonsense.
Ok so you didn't like the music, maybe the style was not up to par with the quality of music you like to listen to... but music is important to convey the message to a larger audience, it's responsible art, it doesn't have to be an award winning performance but with its message, it tingles the soul that aches for humanity.
Thank you all for the beautiful videos you posted. Here are two of my favorites.

by Khar on Sun Sep 07, 2008 09:18 AM PDTHere's another version of the same song I've posted and IranDokht spelled out for you in the earlier posts. If you don't understand the first version, this one is full of visuals for the folks who can't “Imagine” peace. I wonder if only there was a book called "SAY NO TO WAR FOR DUMMIES" we all could have benefitted by it.
Imagine Peace!

Hafez and Factfinder
by AmirAshkan Pishroo on Sun Sep 07, 2008 05:07 AM PDTA thousand and one apolgies to Hafez, and very so much thanks to Factfinder for the correction and the command for doing the right thing: stepping forward and apologizing to Hafez.
Pishroo: Don't Misquote!
by factfinder (not verified) on Sun Sep 07, 2008 12:35 AM PDTWhy Iranians are so careless about their literary heritage? The verse you have misquoted is among the most well known "ghazals" of Hafez AND NOT Saadi:
(here is one of several versions of the same ghazal that I could find on the internet)
I don't think you know what it means otherwise you would not have quoted it - it is irrelevant to this debate.
Pishroo, you owe a big apology, if not to us, to Hafez.
sentimental trash versus political nonsense
by AmirAshkan Pishroo on Sat Sep 06, 2008 11:09 PM PDTHow can I not love such a beautiful song my friend?
For the song lacks poetic beauty, failing to produce tingles, aesthetic bliss. The trouble with the song is that runs together quasi-poem with conspiracy theory. If only the former is at stake, then, indeed, it is sentimental trash. But if only the latter is at stake, then, indeed, it is political nonsense.
What do you think about this one by Sa'adi:
Pedaram rozeh yeh rezvaan beh du gandom befrouxt
Naaxalaf baasham gar man beh joie nafrousham.
Thanks, Irandoxt, for the video clip, and thanks for being human, too human.

Lives in the balance
by IRANdokht on Sat Sep 06, 2008 09:05 PM PDTHow can I not love such a beautiful song my friend?
Theres a shadow on the faces
Of the men who fan the flames
Of the wars that are fought in places
Where we cant even say the names
They sell us the president the same way
They sell us our clothes and our cars
They sell us every thing from youth to religion
The same time they sell us our wars
I want to know who the men in the shadows are
I want to hear somebody asking them why
They can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are
But theyre never the ones to fight or to die
Thank you so much

Irandokht, Excellent as
by skatermom (not verified) on Sat Sep 06, 2008 10:07 AM PDTIrandokht,
Excellent as usual. I love Dan Savage. He had him on. You really should order HBO. I always cancel when the season is over. When you have it you can then watch all of the missed episodes on demand. I didn't cancel it this year though. I got hooked on Rome. Found myself calling in sick to work just to watch a marathon of it. Now I sound like a salesperson for HBO. Of course there's curb your enthusiasm which happens to be my all time favorite ever. If you've never seen it you really should netflix it from the first season.
missed Bill Maher...
by IRANdokht on Sat Sep 06, 2008 02:34 AM PDTThanks Azarin jan I am glad you had a chuckle, tonight's show ws even better! I'll try to find the link and post it for you.

by IRANdokht on Fri Sep 05, 2008 05:18 PM PDTok then watch this one:
//www.comedycentral.com/videos/index.jhtml?videoId=184086
While Rove recently praised Palin's experience as the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, Stewart showed video of Rove trashing Virginia Governor — and former Richmond Mayor — Tim Kaine's executive experience, listing all the cities that are bigger than Richmond and calling such a pick "political."
Then, after recent video of O'Reilly describing Bristol Palin's pregnancy as a family issue, Stewart showed a clip of the Fox News host blaming Jamie Lynn Spears' parents for her teenage pregnancy.
Finally, after showing video of Dick Morris complaining about the rampant sexism in the media coverage of Sarah Palin, Stewart unveiled a clip of Morris saying that Hillary hides behind the sexism defense, and that anytime "the big boys" pick on Hillary, "she retreats behind the apron strings."
"In Dick Morris' defense," Stewart said, "he is a lying sack of sh*t."

I wonder why?
just when I thought...
by IRANdokht on Fri Sep 05, 2008 04:43 PM PDTjust when I thought no other politician can be as nauseating as Rove and Cheney, along came Palin and her speech writers.
My only source of relief is comedy at this time and hoping that we can see change in the WH.
At least someone who respects people's intelligence, someone who doesn't talk to us as if we're all bunch of idiots and need them to patronize us.
Look at Mr 9/11 and the face he makes there! and being a community organizer has become a joke of the RNC! as if the only real job of politicians should be pocketing the money!
disgusting really...
