How many more head banging by man kind to the walls of ignorance must take place till people wake up and realise that GOD has nothing to do with any human destiny and the governance of their political and social matters and finaly they must take their own destiny in their own hands .   In our Persian language the meaning of GOD is Khoda , futher expanding it , it would mean , " beh khod A ta beh khodaei rassi " . it is a kind of self realisation , enlightment to one's potentiale , however it would take a lots of Meditation and self education  .   Those Indian Yogi have achieved the ultimate state of a superior human being  but Iranian do not need to become a Yogi to achieve some kind of enlightment  .   I admire the Prophets of our time , these people were the real Prophets of man kind such as ,Sigmund Freud , Karl Marx , Newton , Enstein , Engels , and many many more , we must study them deeply rather than studying that PYCHOPATHIC book of the Murderers of Medineh which from it's begining till it's end it is all about killing ,Raping .and stealing the non believers of Islam, what kind of fucked up GOD would do that to his own creatures ??!!  The stores of these Liars , Cheaters and Bastards would be one day closed for good , these Merchand of Heaven and Hell .     I suggest the readings of Freud espcially his "TOTEM AND TABOU" , i will talk about his TOTEM AND TABOU later on , this is a master piece of Freud's discovery and it is a huge leap towards undrestading the origine of TOTEMISME ( and the foundation of religion based on that ) ....   Till next time .   National Democratic Republic Of Iran . I'll give you the standard answer

that all folks give when they cannot answer the questions about the validity of god. Just substitute god with universe.:

"Oh.....we are too small to know about the universe" -  which, in this case is true.

The very existence of universe proves that god does not exist. it is way too big and complicated for any one entity to have "created" it. There may be multiple universes, multiple dimensions, etc...I recommend you read some of the writings of Dr. Stephen Hawkins, a fellow atheist, and a super smart one at that.

I do not claim to know the answer, but I also have no illusions about its origins to take the easy way out, that is to say: I don't know, but it sure makes it easy to claim there's a god who "created" all this and be done with it. No more thinking required.

No, not my cup of tea. 

Science and religion are not compatible - They cannot be.

*IRANdokht* - Glad you got the humor, even though Nietzsche might not find it funny!

*Farhad-e-Kabir* - I hope, by trying to address your question, I don’t implicate myself as a ‘zealot’.  You asked "OK, let's say there is a god, who, then, created god?"  Am I wrong to assume that you believe the universe can exist, or come into existence, without a creator?  If so, then why can’t God exist without a creator?  Or will you deny the existence of the universe too?

Even though I agree with *IGTH*, the blogger, that one must also study the works of philosophers and scientists, I don’t agree with the conclusion that God cannot exist.  I think life would be so empty and meaningless if there’s no God or afterlife.  In my opinion, if science can ever prove the existence or none-existence of God, then this whole universe, as well as our lives, will become empty and purposeless.

Religion must be in harmony with science and the faithful need to keep their beliefs clear from superstition.  I certainly don’t claim to know the essence of God and don’t expect to fully perceive it with my limited senses either.

دوست عزیز،من همیشه کامنت‌های شما را میخوانم و تقریبا هم عقیده با شما هستم ولی‌ این بار نه !

The concept of god was put together by humans to explain their existence on earth. So, man created god for his own comfort, pure and simple.

I strongly recommend reading "Letter to a Christian Nation" by Sam Harris. Although it examines Christianity in America, the arguments in the book about religion and religious dogma are brilliant.

I often ask the zealots this: "OK, let's say there is a god, who, then, created god?" - I get a blank look and then some bullshit about the secrets of universe we don't know about!!!
