Dancing back to Mehiko

Dancing back to Mehiko

I got back to Mexico Sunday after six months of travels in Europe and the U.S. It's been nice to see my sister and nephews again. And I love the fact that when I'm here I don't have to go anywhere or see anyone! For me, it's truly a blessing. I'm at peace, spending most of the day working on iranian.com and relaxing.

But I will soon be on the road again. There's so much to see and experience in this beautiful and welcoming country. I was looking at some of the videos I took from my previous trips. One stood out: "The Dance of the Old Men" which I filmed at a restaurant in Morelia, the oldest town in all of Mexico built by the Spanish in the 1500s. Here's some information I found on the web about the dance:

In the state of Michoacán, in the region of the lakes Patzcuaro and Uruapan, an ancient tradition takes place known as “The Dance of the Old Men”. The dance is interpreted with a sense of humor, the dancer wear a traditional mask, campesino costume with white Manta shirts, white Manta Pans with embroidery on the bottom. The Purepechas and ancient people from Michoacán dance to celebrate nature. Four are the components of the dance, the 4 seasons of the year, the 4 elements, air, earth, water, fire and also the 4 planets that could be observed from Earth: Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. More here.

It was a beautiful performance. For those short on time and patience, fast forward to 5 minutes and 30 seconds.

Tales of an Iranian Nomad

by Niki Tehranchi on

Looks like you are living a fabulous love story: A love story with the whole world.  You remind me of the protagonist in the book I am reading right now, Tales of a Female Nomad, who left all her earthly possessions behind and started trekking through the world, from Mexico to Nicaragua, El Salvador to Indonesia, Galapagos Islands to Bali, and Israel and...well who knows how many more places, I haven't finished the book yet!  Hope you have time to jot down some of your memories because I think it would make a great book someday.  Til then, happy traveling!

I know you usually do not like to answer my questions but I am trying to educate myself about Mexico. If you may, I will be grateful if you could answer my enquiry.

I know mexicans have a lot of various peppers ( I heard they even have a festival for them ). I want to know the name and colour of the sweets one they have.

Thank you.

GOD SAVE THIS SITE FROM WORMS !!!

this song is from 1981 (i think) .  it will bring back memories even if you have never listened to it before.

just imagine playing this song, with the top down on a convertible driving to Ramsar with cool wind.

Or just imagine taking Royal Safar for 10,000 Toman from Azadi Terminal and heading to Shiraz

Butterflies

by Jahanshah Javid on

Monda Jan, I'd love to see the Monarch butterflies near Morelia again one day. But there's so much I have not seen and would love to see first.

All of you who think I'm doing something special or extraordinary, I'm not. My newest motto is: "Just get on a plane and go!" See? it's easy :)
