While the, once prudent, EU leaders like Brown, Sarkozy, and Merkel now openly crticise IRI brutalities against Iranian civil demonstrators, Obama remains reluctant. on Iran’s disputed election, Obama said in his last interview in CNBC "not productive, given the history of U.S.-Iranian relations, to be seen as meddling." This seems an outdated excuse, especially for the Iranian youth who are challenging the Ahamadinejad's re-election as a result of a "coup" plotted by the IRI. Mr. Obama can be rightfully sorry for the 1953 coup, but his sorriness does not justify his reluctance toward another coup, namely the IRI 2009 coup. Obama’s position on IRI's post-election brutalities seems an option which is not followed by many human rights activists, US politicians, and even some of his fellow Democrats, including his cabinet members like Clinton and Binden.
How about the values of human rights, what was an apparent tradition, if not a lip service, of his fellow Democrats, Kennedy, Carter, and Al Gore?
A 48-year-old President Kennedy’s sentence “Ich bin ein Berliner” is known by any school kid in Germany. It has been repetitively mentioned during President Obama’s two visits of Germany both before and after his election.
Millions of Tehrani demonstrators who now brace for recognition of their fair struggles would ask themselves if Obama finally speaks up saying "Ich bin ein Tehraner"?

Thanks to all who left comments on my piece.

by Sarzamineh Man (not verified) on Sat Jun 20, 2009 10:33 PM PDTis shame to American and world as well, this guy has shown he is made of paper, what do you expect from the guy who bows to dictators in Saudi Arabia ?? This is a very crucial time in our history, we must once and for all reveal all of Iran enemies and in top of the list are Russians and Chines.
I think the best thing for us is to turn to United Nation, we Iranian outside must organize a petition and have it all signed, we need at least million signature, there is one such a petition which condemn Khamenei's killing and asking for his arrest.
All the IR thugs and their supporters are nothing but murderers, all of their agents in this site kept crying for Palestinian and how Israel in killing defenseless people, but today we have all seen, the world seen, they are the one killing the defenseless citizen of their country, shame on them.
I think this site must show responsibility toward Iranian, today is not the day for any Tarof anymore, how on earth can people here see the pictures of our hamvatan slaughtered brutally and at the same time letting IR agents such as Q, Jahelo casually write their BS here motivating the monsters to kill more Iranian, it is time for us to stand up tall and let these people know that they have no place here.
Nokon FiFi Koshteesh!
by SALTY on Sat Jun 20, 2009 05:51 PM PDTOama is another Carter. He is afraid he might say something that might hurt the Mullahs' feelings. His statements so far remind me of that old Joke about two Iranian Sosols , when after repeatedly being harassed by two Jahels, one of the sosols go to the Jahels and tells them "Bad, Bad, Bad" and the other Sosol tells his friend: "Nakon FiFi Koshteesh".
Every time Obama comes on TV and says that"he is watching the situation CLOSELY" or "He is comcern" I always yell at theTV and tell him Nkon Obi Koshtishon!!!

RT from Iran I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, MULTIPLE SOURCES CONFIRM: BASIJ ARE AT HOSPITALS. GO TO EMBASSIES. HOSPITAL = DEATH
//andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/
//www.realclearworld.com/...
"There is a list of embassies in Tehran floating around, as injured protesters are being encouraged to go to them instead of hospitals. The hospitals are very like stocked full of Basijis. Question: If the embassies become overwhelmed, what happens then? In 1906, over 10,000 Persian constitutionalists occupied the British embassy in protest of the Qajaris (this was pre-UK hatred, obviously. The Russians were mostly the villains at that time). UK embassy is now rumored to be accepting the injured. It always seems to come back to the British in Iran."
:03 PM ET -- Hospital numbers. TehranBureau, which has been a useful source of reliable information, posts these unverified numbers: "Fatemiyeh Hospital Tehran: 30-40 dead as of 11pm; 200 injured. Police taking names of incoming injured."

by Jahanshah Rashidian on Sat Jun 20, 2009 09:46 AM PDTOf course you are right the protest movement is all over the country. The word "Ich bin ein Tehraner" in this historical analogy should remind Obama the Kennedy's "Ich bin ein Berliner" Berlin represented for Kennedy the whole Germany in 60th, including East Germany.
I thank you also for your last article which gave me the inspiration to develop this analogy.
All of Iran
by Fred on Sat Jun 20, 2009 07:06 AM PDTRespectfully,
Since the reports of demonstrations and government’s suppression of them do not apply to Tehran alone it would be selling other parts of the country short.
The Islamist goons have been having a field day murdering and clubbing the hapless Iranians in the less covered areas of the country. Also, the Islamist regime and its agents have been hard at work trying to portray the demonstration as limited to the well off Tehran residents.
It would be a small symbolic help to the braved ones who are spread across entire Iran, to be an Iranian and not just a Tehrani.
