At the outset
of the 1979 Iranian revolution, in Abadan, a city in the south of Iran,
the Rex
cinema caught fire. More than 400 people were burnt alive. Political
opposition
groups immediately accused the Shah’s regime of arson. The regime, for
its
part, denied that it had played any role. But given that the Shah’s
forces had
already killed scores of protestors in Qom and Tabriz and also Savak was
known for its brutal methods, and as assaults on peaceful
demonstrators in different cities had become routine, no one could quite
believe
that the regime itself was not responsible. The incident swelled the
rank and
file of opposition across the entire country.

mahmood delkhasteh yeS, yES YES YES YEs Yes yes
by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Wed May 30, 2012 02:22 PM PDTThe Issue, before 1979 the masses had never in their history experienced religious extremism in power. Islam did not have extremists in power like Christianty, so there was no comprehension let alone appreciation of what the Monarchy had done for a millenia in helping to keep Iran, Iran with respect to the muslim faith (unlike the rest of the world egypt etc which all lost their language, culture and identity to islam). Islamic extremism in disease terms was analagous to the bubonic plague, few knew just how bad it could be.
The thing is these muslim extremists leave a finger print of their behavior when they are around, using lies, deceit, manipulation etc. Take NEDA who they murdered and tried to steal her identity as standing up for Islam, with a knife at the throat of the family. They are like a child molestors only in practice much worse. Would you trust a child rapist nanny with your children and go out for the evening with your wife to a nice dinner?
And here is where the lovers of the USA, the amir1973, the mousa, vildemouse, vpk crowd are so off, what they post under the circumstances, using the same nonsense the CIA is paid to manufacture for its own media in order for the USA State department to execute the filthy US foreign policy we are all exeriencing in our lives, which is Loving muslim extremism under the guise of seeking democracy.
No government that wants democracy would have hundreds of leading Iranian religous figures, pro-secular thinkers, that were alive when the shah was in Iran, killed during khomeini's assention to power...in order to hijack a religion and help extremists to get in to power. Yet if you look at the documents of the CIA's activities that were shredded by the Embassy staff you will realize that the embassy staff had added over 50 CIA operatives to Iran to coordinate killing secualr clergy.civilian leaders and military leaders all opposed to khomeini. At least Khomeini betrayed them after he was done with ther help.
(so the USA is running circles around Iranian Antellectuals/ morons because the last thing they are capable of figuring out is the USA is helping extremists who are not loyal to them, exactly because they are extremists, helping the wests in achieving its #1 goal, in order to bring corruption, poverty, war, despair & chaos to meet US Goals of Africanizing a region).
The west supporting is human rights and democracy, what a stupid collective group of patsys America has the capablity to produce among our so-called educated! And this is why I pity our morons who are NO help removing IRI and worse supporting a US policy, like patsys do, to bring more extremists to power in the delusion that the USA is for democracy or human rights.
Houla is cinema rex in the sense that it is dealing with all the same powers united on exactly the same policy US/UK/France/Germany/holland/canada/israel etc who all expelled Syrian diplomats in Unison yesterday funding extremists... So these are all the same countries that did betray all Iranians and the late shah in favor of bringing about extremism for Iranians under the guise of democracy.
On the bright side most of our Morons are not so stupid as to believe the late shah was a dictator, corrupt or excessively repressive, so there are tiny veins of progress are being made by our ANtelectuals, they are learning to use a dictionary to look up the meanings of words. Impressive stuff compared with 30 years ago.
Does it matter?
by MRX1 on Wed May 30, 2012 08:42 AM PDTTruth in this case does not matter just as it did not matter when Islamo facists burned Rex theatre and barbecued 400 people so their so called revoultion/coup succeed. It is decided that Assad regime should be gone. Either it will go peacefully like previous regime in Iran or even egypt did or it will go bloody like Libya did. Truth does not play any role specialy when you are dealing with emotional, fanatic, hot headed traditional religous people with no logic.
So, who is behind Houla ?
by Rea on Wed May 30, 2012 08:24 AM PDTCIA and/or Mossad. Must be.

Dear Vildemose,
by Anahid Hojjati on Tue May 29, 2012 07:12 PM PDTyou are welcome. as hamsade noted, goal of pro iri commentators is to blame others for atrocities that syrian regime is responsible for.
anatomy of a rumor
by hamsade ghadimi on Tue May 29, 2012 07:04 PM PDTfacts don't matter in this type of reasoning. the point is to take away the blame of massacre of houla away from the assad regime (aided by the iri). this blogette is a reminder to those who first thought cinema rex was the work of late shah but later were convinced that it was the work of islamists.
the cyber basijis are working overtime for damage control and to blame the houla massacre on the media, al qaeda, and western powers. not that i think mr. delkhasteh is one of them. :)

So you are saying that cinema Rex happened after BlackcFriday however it was vice versa. Check these links:
//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinema_Rex_fire
which indicates Cinema Rex was on 19 August 1978.
//iranian.com/main/2009/dec/17-shahrivar-1357
which indicates Black friday was on Sept. 9/1978
So Cinema Rex tragedy was before 17th of Shahrivar (black Friday)
